Hi ! Looking for a bit of help from Shane. Today I was ripping some wood and the saw went into protection mode, (Shut down) and smoked a bit- Seems it was working too hard.

It also seems at speed 6 I am not getting the top speed I am used to hearing with the saw. This is after plenty of time (over an hour) allowed for cool down Should I be sending this in to look at?

I'd suggest you call Festool service.  BTW, Shane is not with Festool USA anymore, he works for a dealer now.

Thanks Brice. Saw is off to their repair facility.  I am very happy with how the whole service system works. I had a CT 26E sent in this week as well due to a ground prong separation on the plug, and this is the first manufacturer I have dealt with that takes care of the shipping and service like this. It's really awesome

Great thy are on it, but I thought Thermal protection was suppose to stop the saw by stopping before the smoke escapes?

Yes you are right, but at the same time these are machines which work hard, have motors with brushes, wearable parts, and at some point there has to be a give. I am sure there are plenty of instances where others have had saws for much longer with no issues, but I have also used this saw for a ton of work for two years, and it has paid for itself many times over. I have faith in the brand and that they will repair it.  When I get it back, I'm going to be more cautious of working with the saw under heavy loads.

As a follow up and conclusion to this thread. I received the TS back from Festool within one week of sending it. That's pretty great considering there is shipping time involved.  They replaced the armature and also put new bearings in it.  Service form explained everything.

Very impressed with this system of service from them.
