Festool turbo 4001 dust extractor what’s it worth?

I have currently got a festool 4001 dust extractor, what I have owned since it was released, I’m thinking of putting it up for sale and changing now to something what has a bigger bin so the changes aren’t as frequent. I know the dust extractor is discontinued now and there are not listed for sale on the net.
So my question is what is worth?

What would you list it at?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Regards

John

Always good to put your country of origin under your name as this is a global website. Can't help much past that as this is the first time I ever even heard of that dust collector. Often though used Festool's in great condition sell for 20% off list. More obscure and discontinued products will typically sell for at least 50% of list. Good luck on your sale!

I've traded a lot in used Festools and other tools. Considering the new price, it should fetch between 2000 and 2500 pounds. Your only problem is, there is a small market for this thing.

What voltage?  I'm seeing old listings showing 400v service needed... and I'm guessing even most of the pro's on here don't have that.  Maybe it's a typo?

3phase 400v

That is an interesting piece of equipment. Wouldn't mind knowing a little more about it?

Hi Seth,

It’s an amazing piece of equipment very powerful like having a bank of 10x ctl connected at one time, it’s 3phase 400v and I have owned it since new, so the condition is very good, I has a few of the usual workshop marks given it’s age, I’m not 100% sure if I’m going to part with it yet as it seems 90% of people on here have never seen it before 😂, the only shame is that the workshop is rammed with tools planers, sanders etc and I am emptying the dust bin on it a couple of times a day 😂 so the thought of upgrading to a sack extractor with a larger capacity would be more useful. But like with all festool once you buy it parting with it is quite difficult 😣.

Further to my last post I have it connected to my Festool Boom arm ASA 6000

If it is working well, I would more look to put up some type of a pre-separator in front of it with a replaceable plastic bag holder.

Something like an industrial cyclone above a frame for putting up a plastic bag in. A cheapo way would be a casual dump bin with an industrial cyclone atop?

Check some of the industrial DEs for inspiration. They sometimes even sell the cyclone pre-separators as standalone units, with their own bag holder assembly. You do not need much efficiency there. If it takes even 80% into the bag it could allow movoing to an end-of-day emptying cycle.

Whatever system you would replace it, it would not be smaller anyway, so more a question of how much your time is worth versus how much a new system would cost.
