I noticed marks on the edge of some sapele after i had cut it on the Kapex a couple of weeks ago, So i took the blade of and oil was leaking from the arbor.
So i ring festool UK and asked if they could send the part out and i would just fit it myself to save time ,its only 3 screws to remove it and its a complete unit looking at the parts list,
they could not do that, so it would have to go back to them to be done. The saw has only 3 weeks left of the 3 year warranty !!
they email me a warranty claim form .So i fill it in email it back with a copy of the warranty confirmation and proof of purchase.
the next day (a Friday) a transport container lands the saw fits in a holder on the inside and is strapped in ,lid on and its on its way :(
it was the following  Thursday when it came back looked great ! i set it back up on my UG-KA-SET and started to cut some miters , something was  not right the miters were miles away on the plumb cut  , checked it over and the base was bent, I could get a 5 pence coin under the center of a level in the center of the base (see the pic ) i was gutted !
but rang them and emailed the picture, festool rang back within 10 mins and had sent a transport container out, it was picked up last friday and it was back today ( Thursday ) the back fence had been bent down and was twisting the base frame , it must have had a drop in transit ?
the saw is now perfect again, Festool were great and rang and email me to let me know what was happening.
but the best bit was the list of parts came today of what were fitted
as well as a New arbor its been fitted with a
New armature and bearings
Brushes and new brush holders
New bearing and arm for the guard
New swivel lever
And New stickers over the laser adjusters
its had a full going over and a service, :) :) :) I priced the parts over 350+vat GBP [laughing]
I am so pleased with the service , even with it having to go back it was all sorted out at no cost at all
I would like to thank FESTOOL UK and  especially  AMY SHAVE who was very helpful in sorting it all out
in the past i've had dealings with Dewalt, Bosch and Makita , not in the same league as the Festool service

Cool.  I spoke to Amy yesterday about my Carvex.  I hope it gets the same attention as your Kapex.

I've dealt with Amy myself on a couple of occasions, and she's always been very helpful & professional.

Some people have had issues with Festool UK's service on warranty repairs; I am not one of them!

Its a shame they could have not have sent you the part and saved all the hasle but you cant beat that service..

We hear about the great sevice provided by Festool USA all the time so, its good to here about Uk sevice once in a while..

You mention dewalt.. I will never buy another dewalt due to the shoddy none existant service..

I was a bit sick at first because they would not sent me the part, but so pleased it went now as it got the works,,, P.A.T tested too that why they must have done the motor,, you've got to love the black and green gear  :)

I'm guessing here, but I think they are legally obliged to PAT test everything before they send it back. Same reason why, if a tool is out of warranty & you send it back but after they quote you a price you decide not to go ahead with a repair, they cannot re-assemble it. They send it back to you in pieces, as they can't send out an assembled tool that's potentially faulty.

i must be the only one with a good dewalt story. the end of the armorature where the collet goes on my 625 router snaped one day and flew across the room, luckily it was a trial run with a old cutter. i brought it back a few weeks after the warrenty was up and they fixed it no questions. strange thing was before it was a cast armorature now it is machined.

Im sure it will.. but do tell us as I said earlier it is good to hear about peoples experiences with Festool Uk

Seems like things have taken a marked turn upwards at Festool UK. Maybe they sent someone over from Festool USA to sort them out?!

Maybe South Africa will be next?
