Festool Vacuum with LED indicators

It would be great if the Festool vacuum had an LED indicator showing how full it is, with another light to signal that it is at peak capacity.  Add to that, another indication light to show that the filter needs replacing.

Nice idea, but it would take an elaborate sensor array to accomplish this. Not cheap.

Miele vacs have an orange indicator that slides across a window as suction is lost.. When it  gets all the way, your bag is full (or at least its time to change it)

That is a cool way to measure remaining capacity. I was thinking of something less elaborate; such as having a weight sensor under the vac bag interfaced with a digital scale and LED indicator.

Yeah, but the weight will vary with density.

I too would like a bag full indicator though.

The full bag indicator would be a nice addition. The  indicator it has now (no longer collects dust) makes a big mess. It usually packs the hose a little too. I'd like to see remote controlled start /stop when in manual mode. I use a aftermarket kit now, but integrated would be sweet.

so you mean you just want an m-class vaccuum

No, I don't think so. It's my understanding the "M-Class" distinguishes a vacuum as designed specifically for mineral dust.  The class designation has nothing to do with any limiting or capacity gauges.

Seth,
Yes, I thought of that after posting.  Shavings weigh less than tightly packed dust.  I don't think that there's a "mass-scale."  But, maybe a combination of a scale and an expansion indicator? As the bag expands it would trigger certain points on the inside of the housing? ... Like when we need to move out to a new notch on our pants belt.  [eek]
I'm obviously not an engineer and don't know what I'm talking about.  But, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn.  [blink]

There's got to be some way to measure for a bag's capacity. No?

The design of Festool's 'M' class vacuums is exactly the same as the 'L' class, EXCEPT it has the addition of an airflow sensor. When there is an issue with the bag and/or filter becoming full/clogged (and a corresponding reduction in airflow) it sounds a warning. When you're using a variety of different materials, densities, etc, airflow really is the only way to measure how full the bag is.

So you DO want a class M vac.  [tongue] [big grin]

I notices that sensor, I was impressed it worked well.
I also have a household Miele and the coloured bit of plastic on a spring that gets pulled across when the bag is full is cheap and reliable.
