Also, I know Albert Constan at mutliblades.com makes an adapter for the multimaster to allow the usage of Supercut blades and such -----but he doesn't have it listed on his website.

Justin

Does this work?

I don't think so -- the adapter you linked , I believe, lets you use the old multimaster with the new multimaster accessories (with the star shaped fitting).

The adapter Albert developed is I think one of a kind and uniquely his -- and lets you use Supercut accessories with the new multimaster --- going from multimaster star shaped fitting to Supercut star shaped fitting  ----(there might be a better word than fitting ).

Thanks Steve!  I'll check them out the next time I need to order blades.

I'm way behind, still have the OLD multimaster.

Jagerhund, thanks for the info.  The one blade I had left was deemed worthless today.  I will be talking to Albert soon.
Micheal, coastal tools was 5 minutes from my old home and only about 15 now.  It's contractor heaven and the showroom/warehouse has much more then on the website. Eric

Here's my 'Festooled' Multimaster:

Tanos do make a systainer moulded insert specifically for the Multimaster, but I haven't been able to get hold of one yet...

so you've got the posh version  ::)

mines got the pig tail but gets used too often to live in a systainer

show off  ;D

Wow! That's saying something!

Though I do find that the neon green of the plug-it cord clashes somewhat with the orange....

Oh, and my MFT top seems to be nearly as badly abused as yours, DD!

Talked to Festool Rep yesterday, and he said that Fes would never do a Multimaster because Fein is a German Company and it would be impolite to interfere with Fein's market.  But he also said that the Fein patent is running out very soon, so that there would be a bunch of new Multimaster clones on the market in the next couple of years.

For you multimaster folks...

there is a thread over at JLC (finish carpentry forum)

where this fella makes his own blades for about a buck.

Thought you might need to check that out.

I think the politeness issue is nonsense, and the festool group is already in the same market as fein with other tools. The fein patent has already run out, and Bosch (another German company ;)) already has one on the market (They made a version based on their delta-sander from their green-line, this is the bosch DIY-line in Europe) (The diy part of the Bosch powertools site is down, but here's another link to it
(BTW I have a supercut for about 3 years now, and I use it regularly)

Frank-Jan, indeed Festool are not intending to step on Feins feet with the Multimaster/Supercut, this I have heard from a vendor who had the head of Festool (not the Family owner, though the daughter was there) over two weeks ago, I think he was the CEO of the production department and I came close to asking him to redesign the EHL 65 planer. (I was in the shop as he was there, and I picked up some Festool gear of course...)

Bosch green machine is a bit underspecified but they have a Blue Bosch Multimachine hitting the shelves this autumn, it is already in the Brochuhres. It runs on 10.8V Li-Ion batteries and the cord version is due next year, I think. Considering how well the later Blue Bosch machines are designed I think it might turn out a real contender to the Fein machines - oh, and the blades are almost a third of the price only. ;)

(I have both the Supercut and the Multimaster, they both get some use, more so the Supercut)

Thanks for the Bosch info.  I was not aware of their multifunction tool.  Very cool.  As far as I can tell, we Yanks can't buy them here yet.  Hopefully we will be able to do so soon.  Until then, I will stick with my old Multimaster.

IF you have not checked out the JLC site that Per mentioned, you can definitely make your own new one or sharpen one that is worn out. I use a dremel tool with a diamond grit wheel and it works great. I had bought from some guy who sold on E-Bay. His (blades) looked heavy duty but really did not hold up. The weld popped after a few hours of use. So far, I get buy with resharpening the ones I already had.

I checked out the multblades website and it is better quality than the one on E-Bay. I will need to place an order with them, I like what I see and it is cheaper than the E-Bay store. Thanks for the post.
