Festool VS 600 dovetail jig with a Makita router?

I am looking at investing in a better* router and a dovetail jig. I’ll probably get thrown out of here by saying this, but the Makita RT0700 seems to me like THE BEST router on the market. Yes, the Festool OF 1010 has a bit more power, but like all other routers on the market, at the expense of control and above all, versatility. From what I understand, the Makita RT0700 does more than what the Festool OF 1010 and the MFK 700 does combined, at a 5th of the cost!

Now for my question, does anyone know if the Festool copy rings / guide bush will mount on the Makita? Asking since Jerry Work in his guide “Getting The Most From The Festool VS-600 Jointing System” highly recommends using the bits and rings from the same manufacturer as on your jig, as fit is crucial. Any comments, opinions, experiences welcome. Thanks!

Also interested in hearing anyone with experience from both the Festool and any of the other highly regarded jigs like the Leigh, Porter-Cable, Rockler etc ...

Thanks,

*As in better than the Bosch POF 1400 ACE

I had the VS600 and used it for some projects and was happy with it overall, but could not justify keeping. The OF1010 seemed to struggle with some of my materials, none of which were hardwoods. If you are in the US you can get parts and maybe new templates as replacement parts. Unless you are going to get a ton of use out of it I'd consider other brands. There is nothing stellar about it, though it does work.
