FestoolRecon.com coming VERY soon (US)

What’s up with the free systainer recon tool. Just tried to check out and it keeps saying price must be $.50. It’s listed as $.01 ???

I see Reconditioned Thank you for your business.

I thought they were recycling than you cards.

If its just a thank you, then why send you to the checkout page?  I had same issue, can't charge 0.01 to credit cards.

I've been critical of this implementation of Festool Recon Sale but in the end it was pretty good to me.

Even though I couldn't buy the large Domino which was my goal I did buy a vacuum pump and an OF 2200, both of which arrived unused, assembled in early 2016.

I bought a Rotex 150 on December 18th from the recon sale.  Still has not been delivered because someone at Festool shipped it to my PO box billing address instead of my shipping street address.  All of the information was correct on the confirmation email.

Good thing I have periodically checked on the UPS delivery status and figured out that the delivery address was wrong.  UPS has been a huge hassle to deal with.  I gave UPS the correct address on Tuesday the 26th.  Today I received a text message stating that it would be delivered by 7:00PM ET.  No joy.  I checked the UPS website again and now it says holding for pickup.  So I called again to ask why it was not delivered.  They did not know why.  Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed that it is delivered tomorrow.

Exact same thing happened to me today! I have only one address on file with the recon website and have successfully received tools in the past. My order on December 21 didn’t seem to be shipping so I emailed Festool yesterday. Less than an hour later I got a tracking number. I checked it today, only to see that they shipped it on the 21st, but that a delivery error occurred. They used the address of my office, which I had moved out of 4 years ago. I then spent 2 hours escalating a change of address through the various supervisors at UPS, who initially demanded that I drive to the depot, 45 minutes away to get the package. I’m normally not one to complain, but all the savings on the tool were eaten up with the time I lost from work. Better be in brand new condition, because at this point, I’ve paid full price.

Why hasn’t anyone asked the simple question of why when someone joins the festoolrecon website, fills out all the applicable personal forms, subscribes to be on the email notification list, and then provides a user name and a password................why, when they purchase a recon tool and login to their account, why do they have to re-input all of that data? It’s already there, it already exists. Apple Pay doesn’t make you go through the added hoops. This is just one more annoyance that needs to be cleared up before the next recon sale.  [mad]  [mad]  [mad]

Most companies use a third party for E-commerce.  This is due to liability with handling personal information.  As result, they just link the Ecommerce parties page to the Festools Recon website.  You go to this third party when you go out to pay. The Festool Recon webpage sends them the total costs through API calls. This means that Festool does not keep any of your personal information dealing with the transaction.  This means that you have to re-enter all your information. :-(  Apple, on the other hand, owns the E-commerce solution and they take legal responsibility for your personal information.  Most companies don't want take on the risk of this business that is why Paypal, Chase Google and Apple pay are doing all the transactions on the web.  I know it a pain, but that is part of the world we live in.  Just look at the recent hack from one of the major credit transaction firms.  160,000,000 peoples information was stolen.

Well, I received the Rotex 150 today after the delay caused by Festool shipping it to my Po Box.  The tool was definitely used (01/2016 date on the label) and not in new condition.

The Rotex has a few marks on it that look like it was used to sand drywall or something painted white.  The plug-it cord looks like it was dragged around a dirty floor.  I think Festool put a brand new pad on it and called it good.  I have my doubts that anyone at Festool actually did anything more than a quick visual check.  Doubt that it was turned on and run through a function test.

25% off is not enough for what I got after after taxes and the loss of two years of warranty.  If it still came with the standard three year warranty, then 25% off would be about right, imo.

The 2200 router I also purchased from the recon sale is like new and has a 2015 date on it.

Festool should stop calling this a recon sale because they are not selling reconditioned tools.  Most appear to be either used tools or essentially new tools that have been returned within the 30 day trial period.

I'll give some feedback on my experience. I purchased a TS 75 EQ-F Plus and Carvex PSB 420 EBQ Jigsaw from the festool recon sale. I rarely if ever purchase reconditioned stuff as I just prefer to have brand new and I take very good care of my stuff. I am just a hobbyist and I wouldn't use either of these very often since I already own the Ts 55 and the barrel grip Carvex. I figured I would try out the recon sale since a lot of you have been happy.

The jig saw looks brand new. No dust, no scuffs, plug it cord wrapped like its new. SUPER happy with this one.  [big grin]

The TS 75, definitely has been used. Some scuffs and dust all over it.  It looks like it was lightly used though. Rail looks brand new. The plug it cord however was thrown in there, looks like it was dragged over the floor and has a slice in it. I wouldn't be surprised if the plug it cord caused some of the scuffing on the saw. And the cleantec fitting is broke. I could see how u could miss the slice in the plug it cord, but not sure how one missed the cleantec fitting being broke. Maybe it was done in shipping, but I kind of doubt it. I contacted festool, we'll see what they do. I was hoping it would be in as good of shape as the jig saw, but if i got a new plug it cord and a new dust fitting I would be satisfied with the purchase for the money saved.  [smile]

One would think that if your "reconditioning" a tool, you would blow it out with compressed air to get rid of the dust and wipe down the tool with some cleaner which would probably remove a lot of scuffing and make it look like new.

I used the contact form on the recon website earlier this morning. I just received a call from festool and they are sending out a replacement dust port and plug it cord next week.  [thumbs up]

Just now getting around to testing out the Domino XL recon I bought in October. The tool looked brand new, but now I know why it was a returned tool, the fence is heavily bowed. Hard to understand how milled aluminum can be bowed like that.

Thanks for the heads-up...I'll check my recon XL today. Mine also looks brand new.  [unsure]

I'd think Festool would automatically replace the defective part...unless this is the "one that got away". [tongue]

As I have pointed out before in this thread, Festool is not thoroughly checking out these tools, if at all.

They really should have a check list for each tool and then include it in the systainer.

I gave my recon DF700 a quick once over when it arrived, but never plugged it in or checked the fence. Your post just lit a fire under my a**.
