Festool's Grand Opening Celebartion

As Peter suggested, give us a call and ask to speak to Minnie. We do our best to accommodate visitors.

Jealous!  :'(

Uber congratulations guys!  Holy pilgrimage commencing in 3.. 2...

Great facility if you get a chance to stop by.  But you'll leave a little greener with envy for all the tools.

Great point Bob on John Lucas.  He was a terrific guy and did a lot to teach the basics of Festool and woodworking online.

That would be awesome...will do! Even my wife wants to see the company responsible for the invasion in our garage of an army waving a Grey, Blue, and Green flag.

I worked in TV as a cameraman for 22 years.  Working in Hollywood, I got to meet my share of famous people, but my biggest thrill was meeting Kevin and Norm, while working for PBS.  Meeting Tom Silva would be the icing on the cake.  He does some amazing work, Festools or no.  By the way, Kevin and Norm are also great guys.  Wish I was on that "A" list.

A few more photos...

#1 - The ribbon cutting by Ms. Barbara Austel
#2 - Ms. Maier-Stoll, owner of Tooltechnic Systems
#3 - Tom Silva, Martin Johnson and Christian

Who's the guy to the left of tom Silva in the bottom photo.

I met him today at a tool show, not the most talkative person in the world. :-[

That would be Christian Oltzscher, Festool USA's former CEO. I guess when you 6' 9" you don't have to talk much ;).

Kidding. Christian O,  was and is a terrific CEO, as well as a down to earth, soft spoken gentleman who is very  (by no means totally) responsible for Festool USA's success here. Not that, given Festool tools' inherent quality, another CEO would not have done well either, but I don't think anyone could have topped him. He is very, very highly regarded by staff - all for good reason. Besides, I have a soft spot in my heart - and maybe he (temporarily) a soft spot elsewhere  ;D ;)  ::) for offering me a Festool Sales Agent position  (pre-dealer thing) sometime in 2001...

Bob

Thanks Bob,

He was standing next to me for awhile watching a demo of the of1400 , I spotted his festool shirt and tie and heard the German accent. I asked have you come over from festool Germany he just said "im over for a couple of meetings" without even making eye contact with me.

Bob, thanks for the report!  I would have loved to be there!

I think what makes them a great company is they haven't adopted the new "North American" attitude of pumping a company value only to issue an IPO and run off with the millions or billions that it generates.  They obviously want to grow a company that values its' customers AND employees.  That makes me want to work for them, rather than the "Man" that most of have to work for.

I second the post that I want to meet Tom Silva!  I have been watching TOH for decades and always get a chuckle (as well as much knowledge and tips) from the entire TOH team.

Glad to hear that the family (or families) behind the company aren't going to turn out like Paris Hilton or the likes.
