Dixon, I am sorry Festool-USA did not resolve your problem, at this point you should contact Christian O. for help in resolving it. At the same time since you don't seem to be the only one having this problem it may be helpful to post your problem with photos (Nod to Dan) so that we can see what you are up against. As I mentioned in my original reply Festool Germany may need to examine the unit to determine cause and corrective action and solve the problem. If the resulting solution is something that Festool_USA service can accomplish then they need to be given the necessary means to accomplish it. Good Luck. John

I think we should take Christian O.'s post to heart.  Festool excels at engineering and producing great tools.  But through both avenues like this forum and interaction with many professionals who use the tools regularly, Festool seems to have a unique listening relationship with its end users.  I was just trying to imagine a response like Christian's from Bill Gates on a Microsoft forum, for example.  Something special here we should appreciate, it seems to me.

Having been in Christian' shoes, I can relate.

Last job I had at Microsoft (in 1998) I spent a lot of time on usenet listening to feedback on our product (a video game) and responding to questions. It can quickly get overwhelming. My boss finally told me to stay the heck off of it because it was taking too much time.

In general I think the feedback from this forum is very high quality, based on knowledge and experience, and presented thoughtfully and for the most part kindly. The experience I had was quite different, and it was frustrating dealing with a lot of customers who didn't know what they were talking about.

One thing for sure: if you're a full time Festool engineer working on, say, routers, you're going to wind up knowing one hell of a lot about router design, use, etc. You're also going to get pretty familiar with the compromises and tradeoffs you have to make in order to have a successful product.

Please don't ask me about video games ;D
