1/2" dia. loc-line hose used:

1" dia. loc-line hoses would've been perfect for this application, but they don't seem to exist. The 2" dia. ones are simply too bulky and getting in the way.

If anyone knows where 3/4" or 1" dia. loc-line hoses can be found, please share the source.

I think of the drill press generating chips rather than dust.  They never seem airborne.

I never worried about dust from my drill press.  I have a hose from my dust collector and I vacuum clean the area after using.

Your system looks effective though.

Packard,

Drilling with small bits (not Forstner ones) does generate dust, just not fine dust like sanding dust, and the dust needs to be removed every time a piece is drilled if multiple pieces are bored using a stop block. I was working on a batch of items (32 nos) that required repetitive drilling (8 holes (6 through holes and 2 blind) per piece), and the loc-line hose set up saved me from blowing or holding a hose to suck up the dust (my previous method).

The dust port that came with the drill press table (which I've removed) was largely ineffective, more so if the fence was closed or partially closed.

As an aside, I have a maintenance contract through my heating oil company that takes care of repairs.

They told me that unless I controlled the dust they would not renew my contract.

So aside from health issues, the dust creates maintenance issues too.  I have D.C. for my table saw, radial arm saw, miter saw and sander.  But none on my drill press.  I am able to renew my maintenance contract.
