I'm coming from Midland Mi
Marc

Unfortunately, I'm east coast...would be cool though!  I did talk with Sean @ Toolnut & he said either Gary &/or Mike Sloggat is coming to his store in the fall!  I will definitely be there!

Bob

I wish Gary did some stuff on the west coast, in the LA area.  [unsure]

How much to attend?
A Wednesday? really?
What all does he cover? I saw this a while ago, but I think I'm going to be  framing a house....

I'm going to the one on May 2nd in NJ.  I have never been to one before but I figure it should be fun,  might learn something new, and my employee can benefit from it as well.

It's an all day event.  The supplier hosting the event inviting me.  They want to win over my business.

The two that I have been to were free.  Breakfast and lunch were provided at no charge also.  Go, learn, and have fun!

I have been to 3 now. Two this week. Love to go and pick on Gary. He is a great guy. Hey it is free, free food, lots of tips and tricks. A great chance to ask questions. They don't try to sell anything. They give away stuff. I got a Gary Katz DVD.
[big grin]

I missed Gary's "Road Show" when it came through my area recently.  He does these things all over the US along with some other guys affiliated with the JLC forum.  By all accounts, it's a great presentation and well worth attending.

Good show today in Hamilton, NJ.  Saulius was there demoing the Festools sans Carvex.  Got to play with the CXS for the first time.  Instead of being totally against ever getting it, I think I will.  Comfortable, light little drill, although the handle does make it a little bigger than my small Milwaukee.  Definitely have to do a full comparision.

Also learned something from Saulius about the Granat sandpaper that I'll post in that other thread from last night, where it seems, Alex from the Netherlands was confusing me with his comparison to Brilliant 2.

Lots of good info at these Gary Katz/Mike Sloggatt shows.  Rick Arnold from Fine Homebuilding was there helping out and doing parts of the show because he's in training for doing it solo.  Got to do some good one-on-one discussions with him.

Next New Jersey show with Gary Katz teaching will be June 16 if anyone's interested.  You must pre-register before there are no more seats available.

Great to meet you today Ken,

We had a great time at the show.  Lots of things to learn even when we already know some of it,  sometimes you learn a step or two in the process.

Maybe we'll see you at the next one.

Dan

Yeah Dan!  Good to meet you too and Mike.  Sorry I left this out of the other post.  I was in a rush getting that on and had to run.  I'll send you over that info on the finish carpentry show on June 16th.  Thanks for the info on that other stuff and always interesting to hear how other carpenters are building things.

Anyone else from the FOG there?

I'm glad you guys find the shows worthwhile, even it's to come and heckle me!  And we do shows in CA every year! I'd shoot myself if I didn't do at least a few shows close to home. Last year we did a show at Ganahl in Anaheim. This year we'll be doing one at Ganahl in Pasadena, in the fall. We'll also be in the Fresno area and in the Bay area.

And yes, we Rick Arnold is getting up to speed practicing a few presentations until he's able to do the shows alone. What did you all think of his presentation???? I'd really like to know. We're always working at improving the shows. Every year we add new content and I though it was time to add whole new dimension. Rick will be doing Sustainable Building Clinics with us--which is one of his specialties (I hate the word GREEN). You can email me if you want to keep it private: Gary@garymkatz.com.

Gary,

Nice to see you stopping by.  I know that I will attend the next show near me!  Congrats on expanding the content.  I know that I have always enjoying Rick's articles as well as yours.

I found it easier to talk with Gary by phone and give him my opinion plus I had other things to discuss, but I felt I should make it known, publically that Rick Arnold is a great addition to the Katz Roadshow and wish him all the best with this new endeavor.
