I am nearing completion of the reface for my kitchen cabinets.
The original were 1990s era “golden oak”, and I was changing to painted.
Because of that I tried to minimize the reveal on the face frame. I changed from 1/2” overlay to 1-1/4” overlay and I made the doors taller.
You can see in the image below that I have left just a 1/4” reveal at the bottom of the doors.
That is what is making a problem for me.
My original plan was to leave the bottom of the cabinets as before. But now I think I would like to add a molding to the bottom of the wall cabinets to give it a more finished appearance.
I really don’t want to reduce the clearance at the bottom of the door, so I will have to surface mount any trim. Any suggestions on what would look good and how to mount?
I want to keep with the minimalist design suggested by the Shaker doors.
