Admittedly, it's been too long since we've done a FOG contest, so we're overdue. I wanted to give everyone a heads up so they could get started before the contest actually begins. We'll be doing a video contest.

UK and Australia members: POST YOUR ENTHUSIASM HERE so your respective countries see that you want to be able to participate and they will donate prizes!

Videos will need to be testimonials or how-to/instructional style videos. Videos cannot be a "what's in the box" or feature overview style video.

For US/Canadian members, Festool USA will be offering a special prize for videos featuring the Domino 500, Domino XL or Planex.

More details to follow soon... But, get your cameras rolling now if you have projects going on.

Am I correct that the standard rule, "employees of dealers cannot participate" applies?

Yes, that's correct. Employees, dealers, employee of dealer, Festool affiliates, forum moderators, and Martians will not be able to participate.

Winners will be random draw to level the playing field for those who are not necessarily comfortable in front of a camera or may not have the fancy video editing capabilities of others. A simple video from your smartphone with no titling, editing or special effects will do.

Like I said, I'll post all of the usual info about how to enter, prizes, etc. in the coming days. I'm hoping to get participation from my colleagues in the UK and Australia before we kick this off.

Is it going to be frowned up upon if I feature my midi with my planex considering its current status in canada? Just asking as that's what I'm using tomorrow in a small  basement rather than my AC.

But you have customers in the US for whom you're doing work tomorrow, right?  [wink]

I don't recall ever having a rule for our contests that would prohibit that. Of course, I have to warn that the CT MIDI does not meet the requirements for CSA certification in Canada and therefore is under a voluntarily recall by Festool. You should contact us for replacement of your CT MINI or MIDI for a CT 26 at no additional cost. For more information, please visit http://www.festoolusa.com/service/esa/.

Sorry but that's a big NO on giving up my midi. I love that little guy, my 36AC is awesome but for small jobs or when I'm just running the kapex or DTS I'm grabbing the midi.

Now if Festool EU / Germany is reading this thread it would be nice if the whole EU area was included and not just the small western island called UK...

Oh dear, speed reading again Kev. I suggest you re-read Shane's first  two posts above.

Let's join together with the rest of us Down Under in wishing Shane best wishes in dealing with Festool reps down here.

And Reiska, I  hear you!

Hey!

We hear all the time about international members wanting to participate in contests.  Here is a chance for some at least to mettle up, express their enthusiasm, and prove to those who would be providing the prizes that it is worth donating stuff.

Even if you would choose not to participate in this contest your enthusiasm might allow someone else to and might pave the way for future opportunities for you and others.

Peter - I'm enthusiastic even though I can participate but can't win.

Shane. Thank you for another opportunity. Can you please clarify on the type of videos. Do they have to be only instructional videos of the tools or can they be short videos of the actual project - build using the tools?

For this contest, instructional/how-to or testimonial videos only. We may do another contest in the future that will be for project-based entries.

Based on the brief guidelines so far, I will be entering.

What are you other members down under thinking?
