First Aid Systainer?

Yup, one of the first places I checked. None of the Systainer sources that I am aware of  (including kofferfunshop) has colored T- Loc latches. Am I missing something on the Mysystainer (Japan Woodworker site)?

(You have to read the text, no pictures!)

Oh well if I have to read...............    [embarassed]

Hi,

If you want a first aid kit in a Systainer, then the Festool  price is really not all that bad. Considering an empty Sys - I is about $60 USD give or take.  If you don't care about it being in a Systainer then , yeah, its expensive.

Also given that the Classic latches can be made to open easily by several methods , I don't see that a T - Loc version would be all that much faster or easier. Yes, it is a bit faster / easier but enough to make a difference in a situation that allows for performing first aid on ones self? If both of someones hands are messed up badly enough to make opening a Classic difficult to impossible, then  the T- Loc isn't going to help.

If this is a way for Festool to use up Classic Systainers, I say "fine", at least we have the opertunity to buy something cool , handy, or interesting if we want to. If the former is correct, I look forward to more interesting Systainers.

Hmmmmm, here I am quoting myself. Upon rereading my post  just wanted to be clear.

It isn't that I don't think the T-Loc would be better for a first aid kit  (especially if you have other T-Locs) , its just that I don't think the Classic is all that bad.

Last night I tried the "armorall technique" as recommended in the previous sys-classic bashing thread...  [big grin]

The systainer I'd bought used (OF 1400) was difficult to unlatch, but after the armorall treatment, it's a piece of cake. I didn't even
take time to do a good job, just squired towards the latch and wiped off anything that ran loose.

I don't have much time for the "medium size" first aid kit.  I have a little one in the car, plasters and the like, because it is convenient to not bleed all over the place when you've cut something.    My chainsawing first aid kit is a few sanitary towels and a roll of duct tape, along with some quikclot for real emergencies.    This goes in my jacket pocket in a zip lock bag, if I've really mullered myself, there is no point in the first aid kit being 200 yards away in the car.

In my experience, there is no such state as "we had too much First Aid around" [big grin]

I have seen more than my fair share of electrical tape and torn t-shirt, paper towels, frozen bags of peas, etc. The price is ten dollars more than a SYS-1 box goes for *onsale* in AU (empty). It's at least twenty dollars cheaper than the safety supply store version of equal size.

Like RXE, I carry Quikclot and compression bandages on my harness for big leaks while I'm climbing. I have a kit for my van that rides up front, and I already have an Altoids tin full of band-aids in my sort6. But this will ride at the bottom of the stack (hmmm, how to unclip with only nine fingers?) and be on every jobsite, clean ready, and out of the way.

As an interesting literary side note, RXE, we say "munted" or "muntered" in AU. Wonder how close mullered is in origin.

I have no idea of the origin of "mullered", but it is a useful generic term which can apply to injury (I've mullered my finger), drinking too much (He's totally mullered) or exhaustion (I'm mullered and going to bed).    ;D

This really made me laugh  [big grin]

Hi,

I did a brief review of the first aid kit here --  http://www.talkfestool.com/vb/festool-tanos-all-things-systainer/4361-first-aid-kit-festool-systainer-review.html#post65081  with  some close up pics.

This is not an in use review  ::)

You can tell tool dealers work in a shop, who ever saw a roll of paper towels on a jobsite?  ???

Seth,

I don't see where the bottle of vodka fits.

I can see plenty of room for 3 or 4 mini-bottles, more than enough to get you to the ER.  [wink]

My first-aid kit has always been a box of Band-Aids with a small tube of NeoSporin jammed in. And/or a roll of electrical tape and whatever junk-food napkin I could find in the truck. I figure if I can't fix it with that I need a doctor anyway.

Nonetheless, I ordered two: one for the truck and one that'll sit unopened on a shelf to be sold on eBay in a couple of years when they become collector's items...  [big grin] I figure the second will eventually pay for the first.

And I already have traditional OSHA-compliant kits for my crews, it's just that this one is cool!

That's a great point, Bill.  Never thought about the "age like a fine wine" deal, getting a second or third to pay off the whole bunch.  How many of us should have done that with the Toolies?

While I don't have a roll of paper towels with me, I do keep a box of those pull out paper towels.  They definitely come in handy.

Let me know when you're gonna put yours up on ebay so we don't compete and drive the prices down!  [big grin]  I'm thinking $3500.00 per latch or $6000 for the whole thing and I'll throw in a book on 10 second surgery and a SEND HELP! bandana.

Actually, I was thinking of jumping Kreg next time I saw him at Highland, figure I can get another grand or so if I throw in an original "HoneyDoKreg" bandanna!  [big grin] Considering what I've seen the Toolies selling for, $6K might be a bargain!

We'll definitely have to keep in touch,
Bill

You nailed that one, Bill, I was thinking about in the shop.

When I'm on site, my truck is too and there's a roll under the armrest all the time, though not on me.

I just saw the first aid kit at Jlc lice today and it is really nice. Franc really did a great job at putting it together with what we need ordered one today

I realize there are a couple of threads about the First Aid Systainer now, but I'm just going to post in this one. Here's some good news for our friends across the border. You can now get the First Aid Systainer in Canada! M0119, $99 CAN. Enjoy.
