Just installed the first cabinet in a house I have been working on for the last year and a half.
Need to finish up the rest of the kitchen in the coming months as I get time

Not sure how I ever built any thing like this before the Domino and TS55

Any though on a good brand of tinted lacquer, not tried any tinted ones yet

I have been happy with General Finishes waterborne products the few times I have used them.

You are going to spray lacquer with the cabs in place?

What joinery method did you use to install the back part of the upper?  There appears to be a significant gap around that panel.

Don't forget to leave some space for casing on the right side door.

Thanks for post up your photos, it looks like you've done quite a bit of work on that kitchen!

What kind of doors are you going with?

zees,  that brings back memories to 1986 when my oven went out and I bought a  new double oven, (i was selling insurance at the time)  and built almost the exact same cabinet for the new oven. !  then I ended up ripping out all the cabinets, then the back wall of the house and enlarged the kitchen and all now cabinets I built and 15,000 gran later had a larger newer kitchen, then got divorced and moved !

thanks

This project has been a nightmare since the start, My mother n law bought the house hired a less than reputable contractor to do the bathrooms and kitchen they stripped the house of copper and the old hardwood and drained the fuel oil tank into the basement floor (was dirt). I came over to trim some of the trees and found the hole they cut in the floor to get out the tank to sell for scrap and the rest of the mess. Ended up doing all the plumbing and electric my self and all the structural repairs too (they cut out all but 3 floor joist that were holding up the upstairs, the house nearly collapsed). Not been a fun year and a half spending my spare time there.

Really has been a nightmare, I was doing a video blog about it but have not been so good about keeping up with it recently. The second video in the playlist shows most of the damage.  When watching it keep in mind they were only supposed to do the kitchen and 2 bathrooms.

It's incredible that there are contractors like that operating & preying on people.  You've no doubt checked into your legal recourse but at the very least please post the contractor's name, address & other contact information for our perusal.

I really tried to get her to to take legal action against them. She gave them 20K with no contract of any kind, nothing in writing at all. She did not get any bids or have any one else besides me look at the house. I looked at it before she put in an offer and I told her not to buy. It needed enough work that it would never be worth it for the area its in. Several months later she called and said she bought it and they were remodeling it. She had some tree service give her an estment on trimming the trees, it was way hi so I told her I would come over and trim them. Walked in the door to them having removed the living room floor piles of copper and holes everywhere in the once nice plaster. Just about blew a gasket, I drove over to the house with my tractor and was tempted to use the pallet forks to flip there truck over or at least pick it up and drive off with it.

A year and a half. So you're going for Son-in-law of the year award two years running? [big grin]

Thanks for posting the video's that you did post. I managed to review a fair number of them. I did see in one of your last posts that the house passed inspection (electrical and HVAC). Congratulations! That was a lot of work.
That house was a mess.
BTW, when is your mother-in-law moving in?
Tim

Thanks, I never want to do another gut out remodel after this. As soon as I finish the kitchen and downstairs bath she is moving in. I am hoping by the first of the year. Right now I am slammed with farm/vineyard work and people calling wanting me to run moulding and build cabinets too.  I am slowing down a bit the last year has been 100+ or so hours a week between farm and house and I need a break (60 or so hours a week).
