First Router, OF 1010 - Which Bits and Where to get them to start with

You might want to get a couple of extra bearings of different sizes so you can increase your profile options on things like the roundover bit or the rabbetting.

I was thinking maybe just a small set like this would be a good starting point so that I can at least have some options while playing around wiht my first buildshttp://www.amazon.com/Whiteside-Rou...ue&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_3&smid=A25DVOZOPBFMAN

They will also save you from wondering what to do on a Sunday if you do not have the right bit and no shop open.

That 2003 style is what I use the most. A smaller radius may also handy.
The 1026 style is second.
The 2402 style is third.

I never buy sets. I found that out of the bits in a set go unused. I buy them as I need them. There're so many specialty bits out there that its hard to keep up. So for a project and it requires something out of the norm, check various suppliers.

I prefer woodline bits, they are cheap bits but work real well and are sharpenable. I also like infinity bits, they are american made bits the cost is equal with white side, amana and the rest.

The Whiteside 402 set is a great start.
You'll end up using most of those (if not, all) bits and
it's basically a "buy 4, get three free" deal.

Not to mention, they're kind of the best of what's out there on store shelves.  [big grin]

If you want to give 8mm a go, Lee Valley has Taiwanese bits and you can order Sistemi Klein router bits from Dieter-Schmidt
