Fitting a new dust port on a TS55

Hi Darren  [member=63560]Womble[/member]

I just checked my TS55 for that spring and found that it is not present in my saw. I suspect it is the TS55R that has it as the link you provided shows a picture of a saw with a clear plastic piece where the chip guard goes.

Cheers.

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] - are the NUTS also carrying the new systainer insert that allows for the the TS55req to fit in its systainer properly ?

I believe this dilemma and the req. part number are shown on the instruction sheet that Peter references as absolute simplicity.

We do not currently stock it.

I have just dug out the instructions from the workshop recycling bin. The new systainer insert is 201912 and when I did a search for this to find a stockist I was pointed back here to another thread !

For anyone in the UK, I have always found Toolfest to be very good at sorting out obscure parts - my apologies Warren if you cannot do this one.

OK, here is a bodge for the feeble ratchet on the new(ish) TS hose connector outlet.

This discussion made me have a proper look at it. I show a few pics below. Firstly, you have to free off the captive locking ring - I warmed it up a bit with my hot air gun and prised it off with a screwdriver - I could have done a neater job with some more patience, but it will all form back together with some more heat.

You can see that the "ratchet" operates with two plastic fingers the ends of which engage in the ridges on the edge of the section fixed to the saw. I figured that the ratchet would be stiffer if I reduced the play in the fingers - I cut a couple of little pieces of pvc, shaped roughly to the gap and glued them in with superglue.

The end result is definitely much stiffer; we'll see how long it lasts, but the angle I require doesn't change much so it should not get too much wear.

Conclusion - worth the effort, but should not have been necessary 😬

Cheers

Hi Peter

Yes my model is a TS 55 REQ-Plus GB 110V & i have already previously fitted this connector to my saw a few months ago as i do use the dust bag on occasions. My TS 55 REQ-Plus GB 110V takes both the clear inserts & the green sacrificial splinter guards.

The REQ 100% has the tiny clip i mentioned, i can provide some photos if required. I cannot comment on the non REQ version as everyone i know has the R versions.

I do appreciate you taking the time to check your own saw again though & it has highlighted a difference between the two versions  :)

So i stand by my little "watch out" for the little spring clip still, for those with the REQ versions swapping out the connectors :)

Thanks
Darren
