Fitting TS75 in a CMS TS55R module

Hi,
I currently have a CMS table with a TS55 saw mounted in a TS55R module.  I want to replace the TS55 with a TS75.  I do not want to purchase a TS75 module as most of it appears to be the same as the TS55R module.  I am hoping that someone can tell me the differences.  Obviously the TS75 is longer.  I had hoped that I could enlarge the blade slot and move the brackets as required.  My main concern is the part that allows the saw to rise and fall.  Is this the same on both kits?  Any ideas gratefully accepted.  Thanks Phillip

Welcome to the FOG.

Even looking superficially at the parts diagrams, the depth stop is not the same, the plate is different, the riving knife and above table guard are different and there are sure to be others. On the plate, it may not be just enlarging the slot as the positions of some of the holes may also be different giving the differing sizes of the TS 55/55R and TS 75.

Here's a link to the Festool USA Parts Catalog if you want to do the parts comparisons yourself.

Thanks for the reply Gary.    I had compared the parts list for each item.  I was hoping that someone who had upgraded a TS55 to a TS75 may have been able to provide an idea of the differences.  For example, the plate, which is the most expensive item my just have a longer slot or bracket holes in different places.  These would be easy changes to make.  Thanks again.

I'd be inclined to put the CMS TS55 on Ebay and replace it with the CMS TS75. You'll get proper support with the right gear and you'll always be able to sell it at a future date .. doctoring a CMS TS55 to kludge it to fit a 75 will effectively zero it's value.

Hopefully the changeover $'s will be less than any parts you'll be buying anyway. Then there's the time save and the peace of mind [wink]

I did just this, i decided to return my CMS 55 module and swap it for the CMS75 and purchase the 75 for exclusive use in the CMS.

I decided to keep the 55 for track saw use

I would be worried about the safety aspect of modding a CMS 55 module to take the 75

I've read about this idea about using the TS 75 in the table and the TS 55 as the track saw, I can see the logic behind this setup but feel for my use at least I'd rather keep to one saw blade size, this way I can invest in doubles of every blade I use regularly . If I then needed the fast switch between track and tablesaw I'd pick up a used TS 75, this as the added plus of giving me a systematic backup.. I'll just mention that I have the HKC 55, which I could use on the FS/2 tracks and on the MFT3 if need be..
