I got carried away drilling mortises with the domino.
Toward the edge of a board I didn't notice that a low profile clamp was in the way and now I have a crooked mortise  >:(

How would you go around to fix this problem. Glue a domino in there and redrill the mortise? Make a home made floating tenon of the same specy (cherry in that case) and redrill? Any other suggestion ?

Hi Emmanuel,

Just glue in a Domino and recut the mortise.  You will hardly see it.

Ditto Jerry's recommendation.

The (yellow) glue only needs to set for abut 30-45 minutes before cutting a new one.

I have made similar mistakes due to not securing the Domino fence elevation adjustment!  I simply filled the errant mortises with glued in dominos.  I also learned that if you don't let the glue dry sufficiently before cutting the new mortises, your Domino bit will soon become very fouled with [Titebond] glue/wood debris.  I spent more time cleaning that 5mm bit than correcting 5 errant mortises!  Let the glue dry if you can wait before making the new mortises.

With other types of tools I just drop it into a solvent to clean (say acetone).  I would suppose that the domino bits are acetone compatible (but I don't know for sure).

Lacquer thinner might work as well.

I had great success soaking 5mm bit in Simple Green (citrus!) for ten minutes, then toothbrush and elbow grease. Smells a whole lot nicer than acetone, and doesn't work your liver as hard.

I know Im a little late to this post. If you didnt want to wait for yellow glue to set up you can use an instant cyanoacrilate glue.
