FOG Forum Video Contest - Official Thread - Enter by Jan 20th, 2014!

Bump. For those who haven't seen the post about the contest. Good luck to all!

You don't have to wait until 1/20 to post your video.  [wink]  [poke]

Ok, I know some of you got video cameras or smartphones for Christmas. Bring on the videos.

Just under 3 weeks to go before the deadline.

Ye Brits will have an opportunity soon from Festool UK.  [wink] I'll post about it as soon as I have something to share.

Thank you to those who have submitted videos thus far. There are just over 2 weeks remaining for you to enter.

I just wanted to clarify a question  had about the rules. Five minutes in length is a suggestion, not a requirement. In my experience, that's about the attention span for most people watching videos, hence the recommendation. If your video is longer, it's fine and still eligible.

Shane,

...attention span ! 5 minutes is about the limit of my short term eh, you know, um... memory.

When you hear from them could you ask if they ever chose a winner for the festool for life comp they did while the UK road show was on last year.

Yeah I saw that Shane but was he the winner for the whole of Europe then ?? I didn't know it was a Europe wide competition.

Since the road show toured all of Europe, that would be my guess, but I'll check to see for sure. I wasn't aware of the contest at all, so I'm definitely not familiar with the terms or prize(s).

Ok, come on guys, I'm trying to give away $1500USD worth of Festool here in the US/Canada and $1000AUD down under. Where are all the videos?!  [huh]

I will say that Festool Australia in particular will be using this to gauge whether to participate in further FOG contests, so participation is key.

It's like a big project in college: you only start 36 hours before it is due.  The flood will start January 19th.  And, yeah, that's a LOT of cash!

Shane I can understand your nervousness, I thought there would be more in by now, but Paul  is right it will all start happening by 19th.  I have three in production and hope to post them next week.

To my fellow Australians, come on $1000.00 towards your next purchase is substantial!  Do not be  [embarassed]

As for any possible excuses by others -

"The Dog ate my I Pad.

It is sub zero in my workshop this week (NAmerica)

It is C40 in my workshop (Australia)"

[smile]

Edit.
Festool Australia could also promote this comp, but they do not appear to have done so on their website.

I think there will be more entries coming - with competitions like this, there tends to be an increase in entries as the deadline approaches.

I've  got one in the pipeline just figuring out how to edit,I think some people don't want to get behind the camera, but I can't understand why especially in aus. This forum only has a few members down here so the possibility of winning $1000 of festool tools is very high. I bet all the aus members entered everyday for the last contest festool aus did and only one of us got anything.
This video contest is like being at school again, everyone one will do the assignment the night before

uni assignment out of the way.... check
idea of what to do.... check
camera with video capability check (sort of)
time to make a video... doing my darndest have some hope now.

time will tell

Ok, fellas. We're down to less than a week remaining. Time to get those videos finished up and posted!  [poke]

You don't have to be an expert with the tools or with a camera to enter. Even sharing a basic how-to is an eligible entry. And even easier is a testimonial.

Thanks to all who have posted already. Good luck to all!

Shane

Hi Shane

Are you going to put links to all of the contest entries on this or one single thread to make it easier to find them?

Peter

Thanks Shane.

There are some great videos there and some talented individuals. This sort of competition always brings out the best.

For anyone a little worried about entering - do give it a go. I have learnt something from every single video that I have watched - it might be good woodworking advice, a new technique, an interesting point of view or some interesting video work.
