NEWS FLASH!!

276 Fogtainers !

Stop holding your breath!  Stop your drooling! Open your wallets!  Fogtainers are OFFICIALLY on sale now.  Orders may be placed from now until August 15, 2010.  Don?t worry, you don?t need a rubber bumper around them like an iPhone 4.  But you may have to check yourself into therapy after buying too many of these.  After several months of waiting, the time has come to order your Fogtainers.  But first, I want to make sure everyone understands a few things.

If you order, it will be sometime in November before you get your systainers ? if there is not a delay.  I can?t control production, shipping, customs, etc.  I can only vow to you that once I get them, they will get to you as soon as I can.  I don?t want them in my living room any longer then necessary!

Just to briefly mention what you are buying, you are getting a Tanos systainer in the dark blue.  It will have front latches that are the Festool green and the side latches will be the dark blue.  The printing of the FOG logo will be in the center front bottom position.  This position will be the same for all size Fogtainers.  This allows for labels on the larger sizes.

I have tried to anticipate all the costs involved up to the point of shipping these incredible items to you.  I had to add in some fluff because until we know the final numbers I can't determine shipping to me from Europe and customs, etc. This project will not put any money into my pocket, but I also expect that it will not cost me any money ? just the time that I have spent.  I can not afford to subsidize this group buy ? I wish I could!

Here is the way that this will work.  Interested members will contact me via the personal message system of the forum.  In their message they will include:

1. Their real name
2. The address that they would like their systainers shipped to.
3. What they want and the quantities of each
4. Their email address

I will then email them an invoice for the product they desire.  The invoice will be for their products ready for shipping from Richmond, Virginia, USA.  Included with the invoice will be conditions of the sale.  If buyers send payment they are agreeing to the conditions of the sale.

Purchasers will then submit payment via PayPal, cash, or USPS money order for the product.

The money received in this portion will be used to purchase product and have it shipped, printed, and packaged ready for shipment.

When the raw product is in transit to me, prior to printing, an email will be sent to the member asking about shipping preferences.  Shipping may be via Fedex, UPS, USPS, or DHL.  DHL is only available for international shipping from the US.

Members will then let me know their shipping preference and I will generate an invoice for that portion based on their desired vehicle for shipping.  I will later post the shipping weights for each Systainer size and members can check online with the mentioned shippers to see what the costs are from US area code 23139.  Members can also check on the price of insurance if they desire that.

Once the product is received, printed and boxed, it will be shipped to the member as quickly as I can based on the fact that this is a volunteer effort.

These are the basics of the group buy.

For those who have concerns about what conditions might be included with the invoice, here they are;

So, here are a few conditions and rules that I feel are reasonable and that if you were in my position you would want also.

1. This group buy is only open to members of the Festool Owners Group.

2. Members are expected to be purchasing these for their own use ? not to be resold at a profit.  The facilitator of the group buy reserves the right to limit quantities purchased by a member to a reasonable quantity.

3. I have included in my calculations for pricing the fees for using PayPal in the US.  If members, want to use their credit cards with PayPal, or international members wish to pay via PayPal and there are additional fees for conversion of funds, etc., the members are to pay those fees ? not me.

4. Costs for shipping is not included in the costs below.  International members will have to deal with the costs of shipping, currency conversion, taxes, customs fees, etc.

5. Members who wish to order will need to initiate the order by contacting me via the Forum?s Personal Message system to ensure that they are a member.  Correspondence following that will be via email.

6. If a member orders, pays, and then decides to cancel before I have placed the order for the product, I will happily refund any funds received less any fees involved in the transactions.  I don?t anticipate that happening, but I want to make sure that everyone knows that I have not built in 5 % automatically as a cushion.

7. If a member orders, pays, and then decides to cancel after I have placed the order for the product, I will attempt to assist the member by advertising the product on the Forum, and will attempt to find another buyer.  The advertised price shall be the same as what was offered originally.  If a buyer is found, once funds are received from the new buyer, I will refund in US dollars the amount due minus any fees that were involved in the original  transaction.  In other words, I have not built in any cushion.

8. If there ends up being an issue or problem, I would hope and expect that I would be contacted outside the public area of the Forum so that I could investigate and try to better the situation.

The prices for the Fogtainers prior to shipping, in US Dollars are:

Fogtainer Sys 1 - $60.00
Fogtainer Sys 2 - $65.00
Fogtainer Sys 3 - $71.00
Fogtainer Sys 4 - $76..00

The flood gates are open.  I venture a guess that this will be a huge success and a benchmark for group buys to come!  My motto is ?Go big or go home!?

Any buyers out there?  Operators are standing by?.

Again, in the spirit of the FOG, I would like to thank Wayne, Jonathan, Christian (Mr. C.), Shane, Franck, Jack Shallow, a couple of proofreaders and advisors, AND YOU!

Let the fun begin!  Let this puppy roll!

Peter

[thumbs up]  I will be sending you a PM shortly!  The day has finally arrived!  Everyone involved needs to be extremely happy and thanked.  [thanks]

By the way, it is ok to post questions or comment in this thread.  By doing so it will increase its visibility and increase the chances that it will be a huge success, and other similar projects might come along later.

trying to work out the cost in rands now so i know just how close i can come to being bankrupt to get me some of these babies [big grin] my pm will only come in a few days [dead horse] once i get paid for my latest job woo hoo.

Thanks for making this all real Peter " FOGtainer " Halle.

Great news Peter. November blows a bit but makes it like waiting for any other Festool related product. I've done tons of volunteer/free work over the years, official and unofficial. At some point you learn that even when passing things through it is important to add a little cushion on the deal. There are always costs that come up. I would prefer to see you add 5% to the deal to cover yourself. I've been in these situations, that cushion can save your .....
I'll send you a PM a little later.
Markus

A thank you to everyone who is excited and also concerned about making sure that I don't get hurt in this deal.  That means a lot to me.  There is some protection built into the pricing.  What I tried to do was structure it reasonably so that there would not be too much protection on my end and members would ultimately feel like they paid to much.

I used November as an anticipated date for the following reasons:

This project has been talked about and viewed so many times since the beginning of March that I thought 3 weeks for ordering would allow those who might take a two week vacation to not miss the opportunity.  Lead times from Germany can be 6 to 8 weeks.  I have no idea about customs.  Conceivably I could have the stuff in my hands to be printed anywhere from the first of October to the end of October.  Then printing, packing, and shipping.

I would much rather tell you later and deliver sooner.

Thanks again,

Peter

Invoice number 13 sent and paid. 3 fogtainers, and I even got the wife to pay for them!

Life is sweet!

So should I consider specialty labels to disguise them?

Wrap them in brown paper and label them "Adult Material". That shouldn't raise any suspicion.  [big grin]
