Folding Rule

A recent poster showed a picture of some Festool accessories he received from a dealer. Included was a folding rule. Can these be purchased in the USA?

I found one on eBay a few weeks ago and stopped bidding at $30. It was used and looked to be in decent shape, I just couldn't keep bidding on a used folding rule

They were a limited offering in the USA.

It appears the folding rules are give-always in the UK and not available in the USA. Hummmm!

Works out about $7.50. I've got both and there is difference between the Festool freebies and the dealer versions.

It just so happens that I brought back five of them from Germany  a few weeks ago. Along with some Toolies and Victorinox Festool Swiss knives.

They'll be posted in the classifieds section soon.  Four will be for sale. I gave my last one as a gift to WOW for having gone to the trouble of sending me an adjustable Keter Table.

Not my experience, I have two and they are both the same and as depicted in Frank's photograph.

While both were giveaways, the first was given to me straight from the retail display by my dealer as a sweetener, and the second arrived this week from Festool AUST as consolation for a competition they cancelled (see http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-sales-dealer-area/festool-aust-rail-competionsurvey/msg323594/#msg323594)

I have used my older one a lot, particularly when tape measure tip movement is a problem, for example sheet goods cutting and roller blind installation.  [smile] However there are some problems such as hing joins obscuring measurements.  [eek]

Yes he did, and WOW values it so much he hasn't even used it yet! It resides in a SYS1 labeled 'Metric Measure' along with my Talmeter from Tom Bellamare.

In reading these posts and talk about the wooden rules, maybe a little knowledge should be spread.

When Festool wooden rules are mentioned there are at least two different versions outside of North America and one that was a limited offering here in NA.  The rule that was offered thru Festool here was a Stabila rule that was customized.  Stabila does not offer that non customized rule in North America.  I am lucky to have the Stabila rule only because it was included in a rotating level set I bought for next to nothing at a Home Depot closeout.

In Europe there was the Stabila custom rule and now there is a different rule that is not made by Stabila.

So when you look at pricing either new or used be careful of the differences.

Stabila never responded to me despite Festool USA's assistance.  Otherwise you guys would have had FOG rulers a while ago.  Sorry.

Neither, their both promotional fan merchandise, useful for rough measuring but that's the extent in my opinion  [smile]
