We would like to invite you, as a member of the forum, to participate in electing our forum moderators.  Using the poll at the top of the thread, please cast up to two ballots for the nominees of your choice to act as forum moderators.  Voting will remain open until 5:22pm EST on Friday, November 13th, 2009.  Your selections may not be changed once you have cast your vote so please vote with care.  In the event of a tie, we will have a run off vote.  The two nominees who receive the most votes will be instated as forum moderators.

I would like to encourage everyone to keep the voting and conversation in the thread friendly.

Here are links to the nominees profiles for your convenience.

Dave Ronyak
Forrest Anderson
ForumMFG
Frank-Jan
Peter Halle

If you have questions, feel free to contact me privately.

Edit: One nominee was removed per their request.

Although I really enjoy all of the posts I've read from all of these guys, I've been proud to vote for Forrest and Peter; I've really respected their consistently open and considerate manner and the great experience and knowledge they share with us.  I think they'd be terrific at fostering the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the FOG.

Well, what will be the duties of the moderators? Duh, to moderate.  :)

Specifically, what is the moderator tasked with? For example,

  >>move posts from one section to another to keep things on topic;

  >>referee heated debates of the polarizing topics (Fest vs. Eurek; Windows vs. Mac; IE vs. Firefox, table saw vs MFT/TS etc)

  >>correct technical issues, like posting errors, etc

  >>deciding what posts should be stickies

If it ain't broke...

I'm not sure if you are asking a rhetorical question or not, but  in case you missed it at the time, Shane posted a suggested set of Guidelines for FOG Moderators on 2nd September.

Since there weren't many comments by deadline of 14 Sep, it looks as though these Guidelines seem to meet with general approval.

Forrest

Hmmm, I missed the post on the guidelines a while back...thanks Peter and Forrest. Good luck to the candidates.

Peter, thanks for the read in the middle of the night  :).

One final reminder for anyone who wants to cast a vote on moderators for the forum before the deadline tomorrow.  Thanks.

I'll second that ditto.

Neill

I find it difficult to cast a vote. All of these gentlemen are more than capable to moderate.

Thanks to everyone who voted.  It looks like Forrest Anderson and Peter Halle have been elected by the members to be the first two moderators for the forum.  Thank you to everyone who voted and to those who offered to be considered as moderators.

Thank you to all of you who voted.  Forrest is a natural.  He has devoted so much time to this forum.  Me... I just ran my mouth fingers.

I had something all typed out to post, but the Golden Retriever ate it.  I should be able to post in about 10 hours.  I'll wear latex gloves.  Seriously, thank you all.

Peter

Thank you all very much, and congratulation to Peter!

I am honoured to have been chosen to be one of the new Moderators, and look forward to helping Shane and Peter run the Festool Owners Group.

Forrest (who is not used to giving acceptance speeches!)

We'll let you slide on the speech since you've given soooo much great info already.  No resting on your laurels.  [smile]

Peter & Forrest,

Wish you both the best of fortune in this endeavor.  First time ever that I voted for someone that actually won.  This was a no brainer though.  You guys are very deserving and have now been recognized for unselfishly sharing your knowledge and experiences with others.

Neill

Forrest and Peter, congratulations on becomming FOG moderators.  I am certain that both of you will do a good job.  [thumbs up]

And thanks for agreeing to take on this task.  [thanks]

I'll add my congratulations.  Like Neill, no-one I've ever voted for has won before either. In fact, I feel that I'm the winner here.  Thank you, everyone, for this wonderful honour.

Cheers,
Rick
