Forum not working properly with Firefox

Did you do a virus and malware scan yet?

And, I still don't think you've answered whether you have any add-on's installed in Firefox.

Why would it all of a sudden stop working?

Something got corrupted. Can be a cookie, can be an ini file, lots of options. Sometimes important files can be corrupted when FireFox doesn't shut down properly.

If this problem persists, I'd recommend a full new install of FireFox. Doesn't need to be a lot of work. First export all your bookmarks to a file, then uninstall firefox, and then reinstall and import your bookmarks again.

Don't think it's a java problem, this forum doesn't use java. It uses javascript, but that's not the same.

Per our email exchange, I'm still quite confident the problem is related to your Firefox blocking cookies.

But, what setting is left to try?

Curious, what happens when you try and launch the site and login from a private window?  In Firefox, do a File --> New Private Window.  does it show the same behavior?  It probably won't know if you are fine.  Wait for it to happen again and try that out.

In the immortal words of my Engineers... "get rid of Safari and Firefox and use a real browser!"  (they of course are referring to Chrome)

I would advocate resetting Firefox before I resorted to a reinstall.

Malware can often times cause random and unexpected things to happen. Malwarebytes will probably turn up things you didn't realize were on your computer, even if it doesn't necessarily pertain to this problem.

And, Firefox is a respectable browser. Internet Explorer is not. IE is a malware magnet.

I like Chrome for some things, but I alway get a kick out of comments like this since Chrome is the ONLY big-name browser that *still* isn't 64 bit. Amazing!

No new add-on's.  I am not going to change those for the FOG and I don't see how it could be a virus or malware and only affect the FOG.  I am on lots of forums every day.

It's working for now.  No worries.  Thanks for all your time Shane.

Ok, I just installed malwarebytes and it is scanning now.  I'll let you know what it turns up.

Proper technique for virus/malware scans...

Scan
If something is found, remove it
Reboot
Repeat until you're computer is clean

Sometimes there are still remnants after the reboot, so keep rebooting and scanning until you have no nasties.

Proper technique for virus/malware scans...
1. Throw out PC
2. Buy a Mac.

DONE!

(Sorry guys - I had to!)

Let's not start a Mac vs. PC debate in the thread. Let's try to help the OP resolve his problems with the forum.

But I would urge you to Google some stats about the topic. You may be surprised. Feel free to start a new thread if you want to continue that conversation.  [wink]

Yep, it found some stuff.  Rebooting.

Hope it fixes the issues getting the gremlins removed.

And, apologies for the terrible grammar error, "until your computer is clean".  [embarassed]

I hate making that mistake.  I know the difference, but will write the wrong version and catch it later.

Ok, rebooted, now scanning again.  [blink]

FOG on Firefox was working fine this morning.  Now, all of a sudden it is not working again.  Very strange.  I'll try the malware scan again.  Maybe it did not get everything yet.

FWIW, the second scan did not find anything, but FOG has been working fine lately.
