Forum response time is slow.

Guys,

Is it just me or the forum is becoming slower.  Since last evening the response after clicking on a menu item, post or forum is significantly slower.  I click and open a new tab, browse another site and comeback and sometimes the forum still waiting.

Response on the FOG is normal for me, typically a second or two.  I do experience some sites that load slowly, but this is not one of them.

Good Afternoon,
Nothing has changed in the response time from my reading, and I haven't heard anyone else report this.  None of the forum settings or database has been changed recently, so all should be functioning as it always has.

More likely, it's something to do with your local settings or Web connection.

Thanks,
Matthew

Yep I was wondering what the heck was going on myself I did notice and even mention to my wife things seemed a bit slower. It was only at the FOG, everything else was instantaneous for me as usual. Seems fine now.

I think maybe people with a fast connection tend to notice a little slow down more than someone with a slower connection in the first place.

Everyone who has experienced this slow down, do you have broadband service?

Yes, I have cable connection (broadband).  I just tested my speed and these are the results:
Upload 2487 kb/s
Download 7987 Kb/s

Good Morning,
I'm not sure what's going on for those of you reporting slow connections.  I checked with my Web host to see if there are any issues with our server, and I looked at the recent access stats, and I don't see anything that would explain this.  I haven't noticed any slow down on my own computer.

I wonder what it is.

Matthew

Good Morning,
I am discussing this with my Web host, to try and figure out what might be happening.

I want to analyze this and get an answer.

I have activated a feature to show how long it takes to load a page.  We can use this to help figure things out.  At the bottom of all pages in the forum, you will now see a short message that reads somethink like this:

Code:
Page created in 0.132 seconds with 11 queries.

Those of you who are experiencing slow response times, can you do two things:
1. Copy and paste this line and post it?
2. Copy and paste the link to the page you are viewing at the time.

It would be especially helpful to see this when you feel the forum has been slow.

Everyone who reported slow access times, please do this and then report back.

Thanks,
Matthew

running

    tracert www.festoolownersgroup.com

might give some insight

Yes, we can use this information as well.

Everyone who reported slow access times...
1. Go to http://www.tracert.com/ping_exe.html
2. Enter "www.festoolownersgroup.com" in the data box
3. Select "USA, MD, Rockville, Heller Information Services via MCI-CAIS" then hit the "start ping" button.

This will produce a page of useful statistics.  Shown below are the stats I got this morning:

Ping Output
FROM www.his.com TO www.festoolownersgroup.com.

PING festoolownersgroup.com (63.247.87.250): 56 data bytes

Everyone who reported slow times, would you please do this and report back?

Thanks,
Matthew

I'm getting mixed results, one minute the site loads fine the next it's much slower and it varies day to day over the week or so.

A couple of times I noticed a slowing down.  Once, i just shut down the computer and fixed a cup of coffee before turning everything back on.  when i returned to the FOG, everything was fine.  no problem since.

That is my solution to most computer problems. Sometimes, going down ito my grotto (ww'ing shop) and make some noise and dust.  If that doesn't work, i just go out and plant or mow some grass or prune some bushes.  If that doesn't work, I read about plants for awhile.  If that does not solve the problem(s), I call my computer guru.  He usually either fixes by phone directives, or i take whole thing up to him.  he usually figures out all of the things i have screwed up with trying to follow dierections such as above.  with just an hours round trip including some talk time about anything but computers, i am back in business.

As you can see, i am a real world computer geek.

It works for me  :( 8) :o ::) ;D
