I guess the other thing I have seen on the board were guys making blocks to mount a square to their guide to make 90 degree cuts on sheet goods. Someone used the big Woodpeckers square for that purpose.

Since that particular square is 1/4" thick you could still mount it under the Incra block. Initially there seemed to be interest in a generic block but it may have been that everyone intended to use them for the Incra track anyway. It sounds like it.

Just an idle thought. Would an 18" incra track serve the purpose of a very large square when cutting sheet goods down?

i dont think it would hold the angle well enough. how about a mounting attachment  for the square and use your other type (mft rail rail brackets) . that way you would drop down the square , pop on the rail , allign  and then cut. but you wouldnt have a square bolted to it when you want to do other cuts

I am going to take the plunge and order a batch of these, final configuration is 60mm long, 50mm wide and 12.7mm (1/2") thick. The pocket fits the Incra track (32mm wide) and is about 26mm long. I left 1/4" underneath the protrusion.

There was another thread back a month or 2 ago that showed the stops I made, I would have to search around to find it but this photo show them:

After thinking about it more I realized that all that is really needed is a short piece 1-1/2" aluminum angle with a hole drilled in one leg for a knob/t-nut.

I need a reality check here.  ??? ??? ???

I was tweaking the design files to may these made and I did a quick calculation of the total costs. For 2 blocks and 2 stops (like the one pictured in the post below) + 6 thumb screws/t-nuts with shipping to me/sales tax (I pay tax on everything)/Paypal fees/mailing labels/envelopes/etc I would have to charge $80 - $90 a set. To hit that number I have to order 50 sets, the problem is the need for CNC machining and the relatively small quantity.

On top of this you still need to buy the Incra tracks. My question is whether it is worth that many $$ to you? To move 50 sets I will probably have to put some on eBay and I am not sure if they will sell outside the Festool zealots who hang around the FOG.  [big grin] [big grin]

Any thoughts/comments on the relative value of these gadgets?

Not so much trying to sell them with this post, more looking for input on the value to folks who use the tools. I may be reaching an age where I am getting cheap but $80+ seems expensive to me for a few small hunks of plastic and some screws. That is why I am looking for a reality-check.

What I want to avoid is selling 20 or 30 sets to folks who jumped on this thread and then staring at the rest of them for the next few years. I don't really expect the FOG to be a continuous outlet for these things so I need to decide if a larger market is likely to exist and the FOG is my only ready source of feedback.

Why don't you do what Woodpeckers does for one time tool?  Have a dead line to pre-order and pre-paid with paypal.  The only problem is what if by the dead line and you don't have the minimum number of set you need to order.
