Get your TS 55 REQ dust bag conversion kit from The Nut

I'd like to hear feedback from those who ordered the port to see if it is  better option than the stock TS55REQ port for connecting the Fstool hose. The stock port is kind of a pain since it seems to rotate where you don't want it.

It does a better job of staying in place compared the stock port. Maybe pose this question in one of the threads about the TSC since it uses this port.

The diagram on the dust bag card and trying to fit the dust bag to the side opposite the elbow (does not lock) suggest that your answer about the elbow sitting inside the saw is not correct.

[member=4632]jimbo51[/member], there are two pieces for the TSC dust port, one that has a locking mechanism to attach the dust bag and another that locks on to use with a hose. See the section highlighted in green below, which is what goes into the saw.

The elbow has a groove that fits into a channel on the saw. You just remove five T15 Torx screws to remove the blade housing cover. Here's a photo showing how the port sits into the groove on my TS 55 REQ. Note this is NOT the TSC dust port shown above.

Much better. I have not received the new ones from Tom yet, but I did swap the one off the TSC on top the TS to see how it works out. The hose stays off the rails now.

The TSC dust port has more friction to keep the weight of the dust bag with dust from rotating into an inconvenient position.

In the second photo of the three photos you posted, there is a green part (the locking part?)  and a black part (the elbow?).

If yours didn't already ship, I would think it's going to be beginning of the week before we have them back in stock. I was trying to get the pieces apart without them  being attached to the saw. The ring is so tight that I thought I was doing something wrong. I finally got them apart with some extra effort. I assume it will be easier when secured in the saw.

On mine there a very distinct positive stops. As you rotate the port you will feel and hear the clicks.

On the TS 55 the positioning of the hose nozzle was dependent upon the friction on the exhaust fitting being held by the 2 saw halves because there was a circumferential groove around the fitting which allowed the fitting to be rotated 360 degrees. On the TSC, the exhaust fitting is held in place with 3 internal male tabs on the saw that are supposed to match 3 recesses on the TSC exhaust fitting. Thus the exhaust fitting on the saw cannot rotate and the rotation of the nozzle is done by the additional threaded item that now accepts the DC hose. As Tom stated, the new TSC fitting has internal detents so that when you turn the nozzle it clicks into place and holds that position a lot better than the original TS 55 item.

For anybody who owns a Bosch Planer, the wire-framed canvas dust catcher bag that comes with Bosch Planers fits onto the TS55 as is, no adapter needed.

I think it can be ordered for around $15.

Got mine today, and am having trouble installing it on my TS 55 (not REQ).  The issue is that the new ring seems to be bigger than the old ring (about 1mm in diameter) and therefore I cannot close the cover plate onto the saw.  Anyone else get it to work with their TS55?  (I was careful to lineup up the internal tabs that Cheese mentioned above as close as possible.  They seem to seat properly but no matter what I try, the cover plate will not close flush.)

Wow - looks like the Bosch dust bag is near $30, was around $18 when I ordered one years ago.

But - fits right on the TS55 saw and makes for much less mess when sawing outside.

Well, I did get it to close...by putting the screws back in and tightening them down.  Hopefully the slight flex in the plate will have no ill effects.  I guess I am still curious whether anyone with a TS55 can get the plate to close flush by hand (prior to locking down the 5 screws).  The plate closed flush easily (by hand) when I put the original ring back in, so in my mind there is definitely a sizing difference, with the new connector ring being bigger-- or the three internal female recesses do not fit the male tabs on the saw as well as the circumferential ring on the original connector.

If someone from Festool could confirm the proper fit, that would be great.  I'd hate to think I'm forcing in an incompatible part to my saw.

There is a slight compression fit in the EQ and R. The saw adapter needs to stay fixed securely so when you turn the elbow saw part does not rotate.

Be careful and don't torque the housing screws too much, there is a significant difference in diameters between the old and the new. I had the same problems today and will expound upon them later with photos after I finish cooking dinner.
