Morning all... im fitting some glassroc sheets 12.5mm to stud work in a commercial building but acces is awkward so I want to rip the sheets down into smaller sections using my ts 55r and midi vac but was unsure weather the dust would be too fine and damage the vac internally (clog it up) has anyone had any experience cutting boards like this or is it not advisable.. I've been using the jigsaw up until now for scribing but longer rips I wanted clean straight cuts and no dust..

People use power tools for this?

What about scoring it with a knife?

I no what you mean but this is vey hard board scoring with a knife doesent give a clean break like plasterboard.

Glasroc is not the same as glass wool.

Should be no problem cutting with the TS55. What does happen is you clog your bags prematurely and the blade can wear faster. But there should be no damage or anything like that to your saw and vac.

Thanks Alex. I have an old cheaper blade so that's No problem and needing a couple of extra bags is fine by me..

I've done a bunch of production ripping of standard 5/8" firecode drywall with a TS75. It's a fast efficient way of working.Just a note , I found the CT36AC Vac as the way to go. I did some grinding of a ceramic tile floor a few weeks ago with a Bosch grinder and Mini. The pores of the bag clogged with the bag only about a quarter full and shut the vac down , probably from overheating. It would turn on again after sitting a few minutes each time. Depending on how fast you are working - it could either just be a few extra bags or a vac that keeps overheating....

Thanks for the info luzzy.. Well I guess I'll never no anyway got the standard site problem of too many long leads between the transformer and saw and hasent got enough juice to run them both now ...
