Golf re-grip station ideas?

Any fellow golf nerds on here? I'm in the beginning stages of coming up with a custom re-grip station that I can quickly setup/attach to my workbench and figured I could use my veritas vice/MFT dogholes/festool clamps to come up with something slick opposed to buying a dedicated one. I've seen some DIY ones in my quick search, but wanted to see if anyone has mixed the two (festool/golf) addictions on any builds?

Cheers!

Hi gearhound

I just clamp my club clamp using a Festool quick clamp to my mft table when regrouping my clubs.

I don’t have any pictures at the moment, but the seasons about to begin and may need to regroup a club or two. If I do I’ll post it here. In the meantime this is the club clamp I use. It was inexpensive and gets the job done as I’m only regrouping a few clubs at time and don’t usually have to do so each year. That’s a sad statement and reaffirms I’m not playing enough.

When I did this I used a 5 inch steel Vise on a bench  with a rubber shaft grip.  I have a lot of table attatchments, hold downs, clamps etc.and I don’t think any would work as well as a standard steel Vise. A couple of clamps to hold it to the table and you would be good to go. You probably want the grip end of the shaft off the table so water or solvent is not dripping on the table.

I meant to add that you want the club free from the table so you can adjust the grip to the club face, and sometimes you need to hold the grip with both hands to adjust if because some glues set up really fast. Have fun.

A vice with a long jaw is good.  It is very easy to break graphite shafts with a vice, even with a quality rubber shaft grip.

There are dedicated “gripping stations” available from about $150.00 to (from what I see) about $750.00.

I have a since-childhood-aversion to golf, golfers and anything to do with golf, so I have no first hand knowledge about these gripping stations.

This pneumatic version is $1,350.00, and is the most expensive one I have found.  Not much of an investment if one can rent space at an actual golf course, which would bring in a ready market for the re-grip service.
