I'm going to NYC over the holidays and I would like to find a good place to pick up some Festool accessories and other tools that might be useful. I was thinking about ordering things online and having them shipped to my hotel, but that might not work as the shipping adress wouldn't match my billing adress...

I know I can user the dealer locator, but IME you never know what kind of store you find. Some may only be open to corporate customers and some have no showroom..

So, can anyone suggest any places that are easily reachable from Manhattan? We will probably rent a car for a day or two, so stores not too far away from NYC is also interesting.

If you have a car you can go to Tool Town in Paramus NJ.  It's about a 45 minute drive.

The staff is always very helpful and friendly.

In addition to Bob Marino, I can recommend the following:

1) Tools For Working Wood in Brooklyn, NY: http://www.toolsforworkingwood.com//Merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=toolshop&Category_Code=CFS

2) Take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR at Penn Station - http://www.mta.info/lirr/Timetable/Station/BabylonBY2.pdf ) to Wantagh, Long Island, NY, and go by taxi to Ace Tool (its not far from the train station): http://www.acetoolonline.com/Festool-s/2017.htm

3) This ones a good hour by car from Manhattan, but you can test out the tools: http://www.dynamitetoolco.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=festool

Pete's posting of those other dealers in the NYC area gave me an idea...

How about Shane & Company setup a Google Map with all the B&M dealers listed?  Someone enters a zipcode or clicks on a link to a Dealer map, and they get the Google Map with the pins locating dealers around the country/world...

What say thee Shane?

Ahemmmmmmmmm ;) :)

Bout 45 minutes north of NYC.  Showroom / demo area / huge in stock availability.

+1 for Tool Nut.  I live 1400 miles away, but Sean and company have always taken great care of me.  Huge inventory, and time to provide advise.

another +1 for Sean and the Tool Nut crew.  I live in LA but have been a fan of theirs for 2 years due to Sean's knowledge and availability.  Worth waiting for the shipping (usually free) knowing that I'm getting what I need.  Wish I could drive over and check out the store, but probably best that I can't due to my tool compulsion!

I live in Colorado and have purchased Powermatic equipment from Sean and crew.  Great prices, delivery and service.  I will definitely buy more from the Tool Nut.

I think Shane already beat you to it: http://www.festoolusa.com/where-to-buy/dealer-locator.html

Then I guess I fall into the category of "tis better to be thought the fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt".  [doh]
