Finally put together the rig I’ve been thinking about since I got my Grabo months ago.
While I like the Sys Vac it’s probably something I should not spend the money on and they’re not too readily available, but I like the concept.
For this, I’ve mounted a 3” Baby Plate to a white oak board that uses 1/4-20 t-screws to lock into the track. To the baby pin is a Gobo Head, a dual swivel rotating head designed to accommodate a variety of studio fixtures. To the head and to the Grabo is a 12” Matthelini Clamp.
These fixtures allow a wide range of positions. If you’re not familiar these fixtures are widely used in motion picture production by the Grip Department. They’re used to fix and hold a wide variety of materials and designed to be robust and easy to set up, tear down and transport. These pieces are all made by Matthews Studio Equipment in Burbank, CA and are the Festool of the studio gear world.
