Granat Net Abrasives

Better use 3M Cubitron II net discs by the way:

Not to discount his analysis, but honestly the best way is to buy small packs of the sandpaper you want to try, then make your own conclusion.

For me, personally, Mirka Abranet is my go to. I tried the cubitron discs and couldn't enjoy them. They've got the thinnest mesh of them all and it seems to eat the pad way faster. They do good sanding something large and smooth down. Any texture or bumps in the surface tears the cubitron. And if you have any sort of epoxy or resin they seem to clog faster than abranet. For coarse grits the Abranet ACE HD series is my favourite. Super tough, sands everything and lasts a while. Pick up a piece of ace hd against a piece of cubitron and you'll understand.

I have to agree strongly with the Mirka Abranet Ace, especially the Ace HD which are amazingly aggressive and long lasting.

I use all the mesh brands, and in the grits up to 180 the Abranet rules, it stays in shape and will last for ages. I feel in the higher grits the Granat Net is the longer lasting disc, and while the Cubitron's are really great coming out of the ngate, they don't last long and wear down pretty fast, and tear if you look at them sideways.

If I could only choose one brand, it would definitely be Abranet Ace. I punch my own 32mm discs from Abranet Ace, and a single 180g disc will cover an entire 500mm x 300mm timber and resin charcuterie board, and still have a lot of life left in it.

I haven't tried the Mirka Ligno yet, but I can't see it being as economical and long lasting as Abranet, but that's what I'll test when I get some.

My rep gave me a bunch of free Ligno discs. Personally I prefer abranet. The paper backing on Ligno is very strong though. I can see where that would be an advantage, but the holes on Ligno just don't line up well enough on the festool hole pattern so dust collection is not as good.

That's good to know thanks! The claim is it's much superior from the local supplier, but it seems a lot less usable area. Wouldn't mind punching some small discs out for the mini sanders to try though. Along with some Zirconia.
