Great new video on Hard Wax Finishes

Just a note that one thing lacking in the video is the cost comparison. He compares per ounce of finish, not per square foot of coverage. And with most of the hard wax oils covering 4X-10X the other finishes, the cost differential may even go the other way.

This was exactly my thought. A quart of varnish might last a couple projects, but not likely. A quart of Osmo Polyx oil lasts me 8 or 9 months of multiple projects. Only caveat is, buy a Stop-Loss bag. I lost almost half of my first can of Polyx. In a Stop-Loss bag, I think it would last years.

That is a very valid point. My first experience with hard wax oil was Rubio. It was ok, but I don't really like having to mix the hardener into it. Not that mixing is hard or anything, but when you need "just a little" more, it's a pain......and you usually mix too much.
I switched to Tried & True and was impressed. It was at that point where I couldn't leave well enough alone and started making my own.
Jeff is right, once the can is opened, it starts oxidizing/curing, right there in the can. Some kind of preventative measure is a good idea.

I have used both BLO and Tung oil alone for years, but prefer the wax blends. Nick was one of the people who shared his formula and reasoning behind it.
