Grizzly Closeout on Festool Products

[member=44099]Cheese[/member] I'm surprised you didn't already have it. I lucked out and got mine from Amazon UK a few years back for even less. It's worth the money.

I also got hit by this sale. I wanted a smooth 36mm hose and I've come to appreciate the Tloc Sys 4 sortainer but can't stomach the retail for either of them. And they had the edge sander attachment which I want to mount to my RTS permanently so of course that made it into the cart as well.

I rationalize it as I was going to buy those things anyway this year  ;D

Hey Matt, I don't do enough cabinets so I just use a Woodpeckers template that really works well for small builds. For the 4 sections I built for the loft, I used a Masonite template because of all the various holes and hole sizes needed for Blum slides, LED wiring and microswitches.

However, the kitchen build will be on another level. 12 feet of upper cabinets and 20 feet of lower cabinets so the LR 32 will work well.

You're going to love that 36mm smooth hose. I picked up the 7 meter version for general shop cleanup chores.

I checked my order status and the Sortainer was listed as "Backordered." Since they're getting out of Festool I figured that item wouldn't be fulfilled. A quick call just confirmed. I'm kind of relieved. On one hand I can't pass up 20% on it but on the other, I don't really need it at the moment.

That's too bad!  I placed my order at 2:37PM EDT yesterday and the Sortainer is also showing as backordered.  That was the one item I really wanted (but didn't really need it).

Your next best option is if you're a first time customer Systainer Store offers a nice coupon. That's how I got my tanos version.

I just received notice that my quick ratchet clamps ordered yesterday are not available.  I think FOG cleaned them out of some items.

I ordered 14 items yesterday and checked my order a few hours later.  Every item showed it was backordered so I called.  They said everything was in stock and they weren't sure why it showed up as backordered on my account.  I just checked today and now 13 items show available with one backordered (MFT crossmembers).  I called and they said the backordered item would be available about 8 weeks from now.  Everything else is supposed be loaded on the truck ready to ship out.  I guess we'll see what happens I get the package!

I'm glad people said something; I looked, and from yesterday's order a few of my 6" rounds of Granat are listed as backordered, as well as the single Sys-AZ drawer (I originally had 10 in my cart, dropped it to 1 when I saw what my total from everything else was up to).

The Sys-AZ drawer was really only a buck cheaper than buying them in 5-packs of the Tanos brand, so I'm still hoping to get it to add to the bottom of my MW1000, but I won't cry if it never shows up.

The Vac-Sys clamp from this morning's order, I may or may not cry over.

I ordered the Kapex stand and the LS130 yesterday afternoon. Got an email this morning saying that they had sold out of both products and would be canceling my order and refunding me. Oh well.

So Mike...I'd like to see when you finally get serious about Christmas shopping.  [poke]  Is that when they call in the C130 for Christmas delivery?

So, it sounds like Grizzly just gracefully gave up the dealership because they have the capacity to backorder items from Festool.

When Rockler lost their dealership several years ago, I was told that Festool reps visited the Rockler stores and removed the merchandise from the shelves.

One of the guys on the /r/woodworking Discord pointed out that the reason for the dissolution of the partnership might be due to the conflict between the Grizzly sales model and Festool's: since Festool disallows offering discounts on its products, virtually all online dealers offer free shipping. But Grizzly's business is primarily set up around LTL shipping and their costs for sending out small items tend to be prohibitively expensive, which would make it very difficult for them to compete with other Festool dealers.

That makes sense, given the nature of shipping large pieces of stationary shop equipment.

A $25 minimum shipping fee on a $30 box of sandpaper apparently isn't a sustainable model.

I was visiting the Bellingham HQ a few weeks ago and I mentioned the holes in the Festool shelf.  The employee said something about 'there's another Festool dealer down the street and they don't want to compete'.
It could really be multiple reasons.
I will say they weren't my first option for Festool - in person or online.  Not that they are a bad store, but they were missing a lot of items I needed.  Both in person and online.

I picked up a couple of the new Systainer3 M sorts, a tool box and the slides.  Tried to be reasonable about my 'don't really need anything, but it's a sale' purchase. :D
The above items have been on my wish list for a while.
I almost purchased the OF2200 accessory kit, but don't have a need for it any time soon.

Hahaha, [member=44099]Cheese[/member] , It'll be more like a small Cessna!  [eek] [big grin]

I know it was a lot of items, but given the minimum shipping fee, I decided to stock up mostly on consumables like some abrasives and bags for my Midi, and also extra sanding pads for some of my sanders (hard, soft, super-soft).  The number of items brought the shipping down to a couple of bucks each and made the deal more worthwhile to me.  I did splurge on getting the two new Systainer3 M sorts, the BHS-60-CE micro systainer set, and the MFT crossmembers (it's backordered so we'll see if it comes).  Those Domino Connector sets were tempting, but I don't have a project coming up anytime in the near future to justify the cost right now.  When I do, I'll probably kick myself for not pulling the trigger now!

Grizzly seems awfully clingy for a bear. Even after taking pains to uncheck "offers" and unsubscribe emails, I'm up to six emails from Grizzly. Wish you could order without registering for an account. Also, I've never gotten a "We don't have one item, so reply if you don't want us to cancel your whole order!" email. I wanted a radio, not a relationship!

The shipping is what's keeping me from going back and placing a third order for the systainers, edge guide, saw blades, and other accessories that I don't really need but can probably find a use for.  If I didn't already have the cutters, I'd probably get another DF500 domino bundle, but I know that it would sit for a long time unused and I would never actually sell off the cutters like I would think I would.

If I was a betting man, I would probably have loaded up just to turn around and list stuff on eBay.  I don't have that kind of time, and my wife certainly doesn't have that kind of patience.
