Group order for Festool Plug-It pig-tail retrofit kits

OH boy this has started up again, I could use a few if it's going to be done.

Almost a year to date... this thread won't die... but if it happens I'm in.

My guess is that UL won't approve it, so Festool USA can't offer it stateside. If Festool USA can't offer it, then Festool UK/Germany/Anywhere Else can't supply anyone outside the US with a sufficient quantity to fulfil any kind of group order, for the same reasons.

That doesn't mean you can't come up with a new business venture - buy em and re-sell em + shipping + profit.  Call it the holiday recovery fund.  [wink]

Yeah that's right . I bought 8 once and that seller no longer will sell pigtails to me or anyone in the US. Festool must have caught wind of what was going on. I guess the dealer at that time had no idea they were not supposed to sell me the pigtails or possibly at that time there was no rule against it. I only have 4 left so don't ask guys, I am not giving them up for anything, well maybe for something. [big grin]

Well is this item available in Australia?  Cuz I am going there in about a week to Melbourne.  I'll see how many they will sell.

While it would not surprise me one bit if that is true, I wonder how they set the trip-wire for orders.... check your registered tools and allow you 1 more than non-PlugIt tools you currently have registered?  I have an RS-2E so that would allow me 2, which I could live with.  A little like "Minority Report": a predictive algorithm to see if you'll be doing something, ooooooh, nasty with them.

I believe they are available in Australia. I swear I looked that up before my posting a year ago.  Since it is made to mate with the Plug-It side, it doesn't matter what the plug configuration is in that country.  (psst, I'd take 2 )

I looked at getting some a couple of years ago. I asked on here who'd like them, and basically everyone in the US answered! We were looking at hundreds. Most dealers only have one or two of these in stock (if at all). Try to order any more than that and people start asking questions, and any answer leads to them saying they can't supply them.

If you're travelling to Europe/Oz/wherever & can pick some up for yourself, great. But you'll spend most of your holiday trawling round tool shops trying to find them (not necessarily a bad thing!).
