Ok, I'M HOOKED!!! I've recently purchased a TS55, CT22, and RO150, and I'm totally hooked on the Festool system! In particular, I like the Plug-It system, and I'm currently looking into combining my hose and power cord using the Gorilla Sleeve to further refine and enhance the Festool system (apparently similar to what Festool does in Europe). The problem I then run into is using this system with my other tools that I would like to use with dust collection, as well as Festool products not yet equipped with the Plug-It system.

I am aware that there have been previous threads regarding the Festool Plug-It retrofit kit that is available in Europe, and there have been some posts pertaining to possibly putting together some sort of group order to ship a bunch of kits back to the USA. What I want to know is how much interest there really is in making this order. If there is a lot of interest then I can continue to obsess about this and try to finagle some sort of mass-order. If there are only a few people interested, I can then put this idea to rest and move on with my life.... So, anyways, who's interested, and for how many are you interested in?? Which tools would you like to retrofit?

Myself, some of the tools I'd like to retrofit include my Makita 9903 belt sander, Fein FSC 2.0 Supercut (I use the dust collection shroud when I use it to cut sheetrock), Festool DX 93 Deltex (still waiting to purchase), Bosch 1594 planer, and Bosch 1617 router (I'd still like to get the OF1400 in addition). And these are just the tools that I'd like to use with dust extraction!!

If a guy wanted to get really geeked-out he could put plug-its on everything from drywall routers, drywall screwdrivers..... Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself. I guess for myself I'd for sure be interested in ordering 6 or 7 kits, and possibly more.

I need one for my RO150E and perhaps for the DX93 down the road.  I try to avoid buying anything that's not already plug-it...

Probably about 5 of them should do.

Will you guys ship across the border?

Things you ought to know:

Plug-It Info

and

The current price for a 420 Plug-It conversion (491 145)  is EUR 17.30 on the German Festool site.  Today, that translates to ~25 -- either loonies or bucks.

This just in-- current UK price is GBP 10.35, approximately 20.15 in either North American dollars.

The UK site seems to have no search function!

I'll buy four each.

Thanks for putting this together.  I hope this goes through!

Hi fellas, and thanks for the feedback so far! It looks like there's some interest out there, let's give this another week or two for word to spread and give folks time to evaluate their needs, then we can look into what kind of order we'd be looking at....

Just for my own curiosity, what applications are most people looking at for their pigtails? Are they going to retrofit only Festools lacking a Plug-It? How about other brands and tools that users would like to fold into their Festool system (dust collection)? Or what about tools you don't really ever intend on using dust collection with, but for some reason want to use the Plug-It anyway? For instance, I suppose you could put a Plug-It pigtail on, say, your drywall tools, so rather than having two extension cords laying around for the sheetrock lift to get hung up on, you just have the one cord and swap it between the tools via the Plug-It connection?.....

How do I plan to use the pigtails?

I'd retrofit:

Festool 850 planer
Bosch 1590 barrel grip jigsaw
Bosch Colt router
Bosch 3x21 belt sander

I'm good for 8 kits. While I have read back through the post concerning carying capacity I am still a little confused about the amperage/wire size. I am assuming we would be placing an order for the higher amperage capabilities? The only tool I have that I am unsure about would be my OF2000. If anyone wants to shed some light on that I would be grateful.

Ned you must have missed the search box, ...

Yes, I did hint at that.  OK, we agree I don't see a search box on the Festool UK site.

Where do you see a search box?

Ned

Looking at the link joiner1970 supplied, I saw a new item:

plug it conversion-kit UBS-PUR 420 plug it GB 110V Order number: 494910

When I got my conversion kits (for old Rotex 150 and DX 93) this 110v kit was not available.

I have no idea whether this item would be more suitable for NA users, but if I were buying today I'd definitely want to check it out.

30 minutes ago I had one of those "doh!" moments.  Now I'll definitely need to replace an existing Festool non-Plug It cord:  I ran my 850 over its cord.  Just enough to shave open the cord sheath though not through the stranded fiber or wire underneath.  I didn't even notice I had cut the cord until I was stowing away the 850.

What I like about the boom arm on my CT22 is that it keeps the Plug It cord and extractor hose nicely away from the work piece.  I clipped the 850 cord to the boom arm but didn't take the time to shorten up the cord so that it wouldn't sneak between the work piece and the planer.  Double "doh!".

Got it.  The search box is really buried compared to the German, Australian, and US sites.  The international site seems not have it at all (but I've said that before...  :D )

Thanks,
Ned

A little confused. I assume you are referring to a kit to modify the tool to accept the US Festool cord. If so, is this something that you modify the existing tool cord by cutting/shortening and adding the receptacle or is this something that would install in the tool handle like a cord grip? Either way, I would love to get some. Can think of a couple sanders, routers, etc. Would need about 10 price dependant.
Thanks. Pete
