Guide rail adapter for OF 1400

I recently purchased (492601) Guide rail adapter and find that when rods are inserted they are not horizontally in the same plane, ie one is higher than the other. I have checked with other rods with same results. I have dissembled the guide and checked the assembly against the EKAT diagram and they appear correct. The problem does not happen with the side fence.
What am I missing, can anyone please help

You've got me there!  I'm sitting here with my adapter in front of me, and the 5-sided holes into which the bars fit are moulded in; I can't see how they can be out of line.  Do you have a picture?

Until you tighten the big knobs there is some freedom of movement, but if it's on a flat surface they're coplanar.
