H&K Custom Barn Doors

Nice  as usual. I was thinking about you the other day. I havent seen you posting so I thought the Flu manchu caused a work slow down. glad to see yer back at it.

It’s actually been the opposite.  With many working from home I’ve been swamped with orders for doors to cover home office/study openings.

And just sold my house and moving into a new house with a 40x30 workshop and 2.5 acres...so been a busy couple of months!

Thats awesome. I was looking for a house with a existing shop. The one we bought was new so Im having the shop built. was going 30 x 40 but to pricey for me so Im going with 24x30 with a 8 x 12 shed built on.

Im thinking I can always add on later.

But good on ya glad to see ya still at it

Yep, can always add on.  With 2.5 acres and a shop and a 20x20 barn I have some space finally!

Man ya got me on both the shop and land. I only have a acre  [big grin]

An acre is more than enough...I was looking in the 1 to 1.5 acre size.  The home I purchased just checked all boxes I needed.  Perfect timing I guess.

I get it. Iwas looking at Tx and a place with a shop already built. Wife liked this new house in Az so Im having to get a shop built and do the land scaping etc.

A acre is plenty for me. I honestly dont know what Im going to do with all this raw land. But its all based on the shop being built.
I can figure out where to plant trees gardens etc then. Shop is really the center piece for the land.

That makes perfect sense.  When do you have time for police work?  :)

It’s been hectic!  That’s for sure.  New baby, new house, and busy at the PD and with doors!!  But it’s all worth it.  God is good.  [wink]

Have 13 doors in the works...here are two HUGE reclaimed oak doors in the works...these two are 12’ tall and 5’ wide...EACH!

Thats awesome congrats on the home and baby. The extra income yer geting from the doors Im betting is really helping out. Be sure to spend time with the baby, time goes by quickly, before you know it theyre grown and in the military....

Thanks!  And as far as dominos...I go big and use ONLY 14mm x 140 for ALL my doors.  I do go through quite a bit...

I got the 700 and planning on building a barn door for my house. Do you uses a festool bit or a CMT bit?

Do you buy the dominos in lengths and cut to size or buy them precut?

Just curious. I need to get a 14mm bit.

It will be a while before I get to the door, got a lot of stuff to do before that time comes

I use both...the 14mm x 140mm and the long ones that I cut to length on certain jobs.  Best to have both on hand for sure.

I use the trusted Festool 14mm bit...I’ve probably mortises a couple thousand dominos with that one bit.
