Hard to believe it's been 9 years since the forum outgrew its Yahoo Group roots!  Thank you to everyone who has asked questions and given help here!

I think it's a testament to the great moderators, members and content here that there are so many circa 2007 members still active on the forum.  [wink]

I should have said it in my earlier post, but thanks to everyone who contributes here and makes this forum an inviting and informative place.

Ten years since I started with Festool. I was glad to have fond this place nine years ago.

Thanks to the members  for all the good content [thumbs up]

Shame on me for not joining this forum earlier. I've been checking this out for the last 5 years but didn't join until a year ago. Ya, ya, ya, some will say better off without you and I will say you're probably right. But each of us brings a slice of our own perspective to this woodworking/machinery/metalworking puzzle and there is not a better forum to address all of the issues. If a person has to skip among different forums to divine solutions to their issues...what's the sense, that's annoying and labor intensive. The Fog offers a lot to a huge cross section of humanity that just wants to know "What's the best way to do this?"

Well said Shane and thanks, Pete for starting the post.

It's been a great 5 years for me, I gained friends and a fantastic advise system to further enhance my use of Festool

Greetings Everyone,

Wow -- 9 years already?!  Pretty impressive everyone.

I do sometimes wonder what Matthew Schenker is up to these days... [scratch chin]

Well, after transferring forum ownership, I had my hands full raising my daughter (born in 2008).  I stopped doing woodworking for a while, and focused my attention on starting up a web design/development company.  Building the FOG was what inspired me to go in that direction professionally.  But all this time, I missed the wonderful engagement of the FOG community.  It was a special experience for me.  With the distance of time, what stands out is all the positive work that was done here.

Sometimes, I can't believe that a simple idea that came to me one afternoon in August 2004 to "see who else is out there who uses these tools" ended up leading to a forum like this!  I have all the e-mails and messages exchanged back in 2004 with Bob Marino and Christian Oltzscher and a few others, and it's fun to look back at them sometimes!

Recently, I have been getting back into woodworking again, and I am very happy to see how Festool has developed as a company.  When I first started the Yahoo group, and this forum, Festool was still kind of small.  Now, anyone who does woodworking knows about them.

Hope you are all well.

Matthew

Great bunch of nice people here. I have learned a lot because I don't know a lot. kinda of a zen thing.

And you have nailed it perfectly.  We are a bunch of people here talking about Festools and a whole bunch of other stuff.  Each has something to learn and each has something to contribute.  Thru the collaboration we all learn and are the better for it.

Unfortunately, due to whatever reasons, there are times when other "stuff" comes into play that works toward us here getting away from the goal of HELPING each other out and sharing constructively our individual educations, experiences, and advice.  Hopefully we will return more to center and just enjoy helping and sharing.

Peter

Good too hear from you again Matthew and welcome back.
Steve
