As per title, my son and I bought a dining table in mahogany - in order to make a new top for the galley in his boat..
Thoughts were made into reality, the former table is now partly a galley top, and the rest is lumber. Thickness is about 18mm - 3/4” and being sold here, I suspect Asian origin.
However, I was kinda surprised how hard this wood was. I started with the 42 tooth fine cut blade on my HKC. Cross cut was just slightly noticeable slower than with high grade plywood. But rip cut did slow the feed rate considerably down. So I exchanged to the Panther blade for the next rip cut, and we were back to a good pace.
And I’ll say, the Panther blade made a really nice finish, hardly any different than with the 42 tooth blade in ripping mode.
