Ipe!  Best stuff not cheap!

Oh you don't want grooves they don't look as nice plus they are actually more slippery than flat decking.

without looking i cant afford Ipe, I looked at yellow balau at £30m but not sure what it is like. There is also charcater grade oak at same price

Bout £500 for balau  proper get if for about 380 or so from some builder merchant I'm sure!

suprised there are no responses from over the pond as they seem to use a lot more hardwood decking than us

they use that plastic crap alot.  Horrible stuff!  [tongue]

Hi Dean,

Dont want to hi jack your thread.

Tried the CT22 and the socket out let is only live in auto , shame really as it would have been good if it was live in manual.

Hard wood decking is going to cost you big style where ever you get it from, you could look for some air dried oak but thats going to be £30 sq m .and  a lot of work as it will be random stock.

Regarding hardwood decking on this side of the pond.  Not too many choices.  Ipe is probably the most popular.  Costly!  The synthetics (plastic based) - COSTLY.  But less maintenance

On the west coast of the US - Redwood is used.  On the east coast Redwood is costly.  A lot of pressure treated pine is used.

That might be why you are getting many responses from this side of the pond.

it must just be the midi that is live in manual.   Anyway yes i have seen air dried oak but not to sure about it, might order a sample

it doesnt have to be hardwood to be honest i just want something that is not pressure treated and full of knots.

Hi Dean, you might get a lot of responses if you post at the JLC forum....."Materials And Techniques" might be the best spot...  http://forums.jlconline.com/forums/index.php .  There are some guys there that specialize in declks, and from the pictures I've seen on their websites it looks like they do nice work and use nice materials.
