good morning all!

as of late, i have been unhappy with the performance of the screw-products torx drive yellow zinc screws.  i have come to really like the identical screw offered by spax, but those are challenging to find...even though they're available at HD, they're stock is often bleak  [blink].  i noticed that mcfeelys is offering a similar screw and before i order and possibly waste $$$ i wanted to throw it out there to see if anybody has had any experience with these screws.  i use them as a multi purpose indoor type screw...mostly for installing kitchen cabinetry, face frame connections and such.  the grk's are nice, but they don't even offer a #8x2 1/2" screw...only in a #9.

input is welcome!!!

Bob,

If you want any Spax screws, contact Steve (ultgar - FOG name) at Ultimate Garage.  He's a Festool dealer in NJ.  201-262-0412
Tell him I sent you and he owes me use of his Ferrari for a day for this one!  [smile]

Thanks Ken!  I appreciate the heads up...I'll definitely contact him and see if he can get those screws for me. I think I was on his site and didn't see the torx drive that I've been using, but I'll drop him a line!

I haven't used those specific Torx screws, but I have used alot of others from McFeeleys and really like them. Never break (like big box store screws) and available in lots of finishes and precise lengths.

Hi,

I have used some of the McFeelys yellow zinc. I thought they were good, much better than most,  but not great.  I am now using the GRKs and really like them.  They do offer an 8 x 2 1/2 in both R4 and Cabinet screws.  Here is a link to the GRK site  that shows the complete line.  I am using the R4, Cabinet, and Pan heads.

I have found that many suppliers only offer part of the line.  This one seems to have it all or is able to get it all---

I get most all of my screws from McFeelys including the yellow zinc.
I have been happy with them all.

Everyone here knows my admiration for GRK's.

Just because the place you get screws from doesn't have the size, GRK makes every size screw.

I just got back from hanging 2 flat screen tv's and you guessed it, I used the GRK RSS screws.

Love them screws.

Seth, the buygrkfasteners link goes to a page that describes Kaliburn, Phenox, R4 , Top Star screws.  Are these all GRK screws--which series would be a good all purpose indoor screw?

Vijay

Hi,

Yes, they are all GRK screw types.  R4 general / all purpose. Cabinet have large washer head. Pan are great for pocket holes.

The R4 is the all purpose woodworking type screw.  The regular R4 is a true all purpose indoor / outdoor.  They do not offer a specifically indoor only screw. The R4s have this Climatek coating  http://grkfasteners.com/en/our_products.htm#Climatek

The Phenox are stainless, which explains the price.

Here is a link to the R4 page. You just have to keep srcolling to get past the Phenox and find the size  and package quantity that you want.

Use the "Screws" drop down in the top bar to select other types.

That is the real beauty of the GRK's, you can use any screw in anything, anywhere.

No worrying about not having an exterior screw or what not.

Plu my Dad likes to keep his fishing tackle in the empty plastic boxes.

I'll admit, I'm behind the times on these GRK screws.  Someone gave me a sample box of Spax screws, still haven't used any yet.

I just started ordering from Seth's link!  I do know how much love this forum has for GRK's.  That site has good pricing as far as GRK's are concerned!

Thanks for all the input!  That's what I love about this place!
