Has anyone bought a Syslite Uni?

If you're not willing to stomach the $175, I suggest you visit your nearest Costco and pickup their Snap-On worklight for $40. It hogs out 2700 lumens though, and with no low setting, it's often too much for confined spaces.

I bought one of the Snap-On lights at Costco too. It works great when I need a lot of light. I have a SYS UNI when I need something totally portable or when the Snap-On would be overkill

Menards sells Snap-On now. No where near the quality of my '70's/80's vintage tools.

Costco carries a few Snap-On "licensed" items, so Snap-On isn't the manufacturer, they just let their name be stamped on it.

Brand politics aside, it's a really bright work light that's equally inexpensive and pretty well built. I've replaced all my drop lights w/ these because they produce so little heat that you don't have to fear burning yourself on the light, it really only ever gets warm to the touch, and puts out about double what most headlights do. They are really effin' bright.

I doubt what you're seeing at Menards is Snap-On made, just licensed like the stuff in Costco.

Their distribution network is even stronger than Festool USA's, in that there is no outside distribution outside of their trucks, period. None. Revenue from website sales are split amongst their truck drivers in a profit sharing deal, and each driver's territory is specifically outlined by Snap-On.

So I ended up getting a Syslite and again...Festool doesn't disappoint.  I opted to go for the Syslite because I needed something small and portable while working under my car.  I tend to only have time to work on my cars after work so when you're under the car at night, its pretty dark even though my garage is decently lit.

The light from the syslite "floods" extremely well for how small it is.  A similar unit can be had for $30 from the big box stores, but it requires you to plug it in, and it's about the size of an 8" x 8".  Because it's also plugged in, it's harder to move around.  I have the Syslite hooked up to one of my 18v Li batteries from my T18 and it just keeps running. 

Yet again...another..."why didn't I get this sooner".  Sure, it's $175, but it's just has made life so easy that it pays for itself quickly.

Have you seen the LED lights that Rockler is selling, it can be plugged in or run off its own battery.  The light is way better than I ever expected and the cost was $50.
