Has anyone ever made a 'rotisserie' or 'flip-up' MFT? I am thinking of the ability to store a larger MFT when it's not needed, and fold it down to be used. In order to access all 4 sides I was thinking of a design that pivoted around a central axis versus folding out from a wall?

I haven't really thought this through, but a quick search didn't turn up anything - so either it's a dumb idea or nobody has ever executed it before. The former is probably more likely the case than the latter.

I have a MFT/3 for main work table with a MFT 600 in tandem at the far end.  I use 2x4's on edge when i need the "extension to be level with the /3.  It takes up a lot of already short space.  I am planning (in my head so far) a narrow bench sort of like Ron Paulk's design to replace the 600 with some drop down angles that can give me a larger surface when needed.  I will make a swiss cheese type surface for the drop-down sides so i will have a continuous Festoy pattern when using the entire expanded width.  I just do not have any wall space to spare to tuck the entire bench out of the way.

Well, I was thinking about this a couple of years ago, but I didn´t have the time back then to pursue it... But here are some of my sketches  [smile]

What would be the use case here?  For all of the features of an MFT?  Or for glue ups, clamping, sanding, etc?

I had a fold down bench for a while and drilled a few dog holes in it for some clamping, I used it as a paint drying rack and such.

I tore it down to make storage but have thought about making another like it.

If you ever do go down a flip up route, you might need some cross braces in the framework to deal with vibration/movement for heavy rpm work (hope that makes sense)

This looks like a nice design.
