Heat Build Up in RO 90 is this normal ?

Thanks for the great observations.  Is it safe to say those RO90s all have gone beyond the 10 hour brush break in period?  It sounds like you have, but just to clarify...

Hi there John,  our RO 90 does get warm during use (with the CT)...warm enough to note that it is more than all our other Festool sanders, but not as warm/hot as what you are describing.

I have a pair of heavy gloves that were given to me by a guy that worked in an iron foundry in western Pennsylvania.  I don't need them and could send them on to you, assuming that Mr. Ashley will give his blessing.

Thank You Rob,

But Guy is already sending me a pair of his "Night Mittens".................... [huh]

The 90 was fine today with the dust extraction on. Must only be when its used with out it that it gets that hot.

Very Best

John

Mr Forshaw

I am dismayed and disappointed that you have breached my confidence placed in you by revealing my use of Night Mittens! [sad]

However I feel among friends on the FOG in that as you know they were used to lovingly polish my Festools before putting them into their systainers in readiness for my reading them their bedtime stories (extracts from Ekat). There are other FOG members who I believe do the same! ::) ::)

Oh, yes and you did neglect to mention in your original post that you were using the RO90 in a sauna!!!! [scared]

Well Guy I ll believe you thousands would not. [big grin]

No your wrong. i used it in the sauna the following day with dust extraction and it was fine . I was par boiled but the 90 was good . So the extractor does "Air Cool " it to a certain extent.

First time I have ever worked in just steel toe cap boots , boxer shorts and a hi viz vest. [eek]

Hope you enjoy polishing your Festools this week end. Dont forget you need to polish your helmet as you are on site next week!

Remember how you got told off last time ,by that Health and Safety Officer, because you had not got a clean and polished helmet [embarassed]

John

I was gona join in but I'm not sure what we are talking about now  [huh]  John, i had gotten that image of the hi vis boxers out of my head until you just mentioned it again  [scared]  Man, I'm gona need therapy  [doh]

Looks like us Brits have wandered off topic again, not like us at all !!!

Hi Woodguy,
No we are still on topic.

No extraction with RO90 very hot sander
Extraction  with RO90 (even in a sauna and hi viz) cool sander

Solution to hot sander (ROBZ) Heavily padded insulated mitts.
Guy sending me some of his NIGHT MITTENS instead.

Guy passing on tool maintenance tips
Me passing on health and safety info (OK a little digression, But not bad for one of our threads)

Care to join in now [big grin]

John

Ah, i see.

Cant say i have ever used a Festool sander without extraction so don't know if any of mine get hot.  Dont have the RO90 so cant cast an opinion, sorry.

What colour mittens is Guy sending you, i would guess peach  ;)

Don't know what colour he is sending , he said he had quite a few in pastels [eek]

YOU NEED A RO90, they  are brilliant.

John
