Hi Kev, I had been on the tools a long time, now I'm taking a break to look after mum. I will be getting back in the shed as the weather cools a bit, sheds get awful hot up here in the wet.
hi Holmz, I do odd jobs for a bit of cash but mostly working on the house and yard. I have started a few carvings and when it cools down a bit I'll get back in the shed and finish them off. I also have some wood I have been trying to sell but it seems so rare no one knows anything about it. How about yourself?
Hi holmz, The wood I have is Pterocarpus santalinus- Red Sandlewood or Zitan in china, seems to be desirable and rare as it is banned for export from its native India. I have seen prices between $150 and $1000 dollars a kilo but no one seems to want to talk about it. Lovely stuff, smells magical when working it.
Hi Locky,
Thanks, looks and works like a dream, similar to ebony in texture and density, but the smell is beautiful, almost intoxicating when you work it. I started out with Festool so pretty much all my mains power stuff is Festool and for the variety they offer makita for battery gear.
Michael
Hello Michael,
Nice to see Aussies down here.
Iam coming from Melbourne to Darwin by the end of this month.
Is that possible to look at the wood you have?
