I'm in OR but closer to portland than Eugene. Having been to both Crosscut and Hardwood Ind, I now prefer the latter. Hardwood industries has all their lumber separated by grade, and very specific grades at that. So when you buy from them, you know exactly what you are getting. Before you go to hardwood Industries, download their catalog and become familiar with their grades.
Going to crosscut is fun, but it's more like digging through a bin and hoping you will find the quality that you need.
You can't go wrong at either place, they each have their specific strengths.
