Help with a CTL55E ?

Just wondered if anyone else has got one of these extractors? I've had one for a couple of years, got it second hand without a manual.
My question is, can it be used bagless? Even though it's a big unit, the filter bags are quite expensive. Now I've got my new Kapex I reckon I'll be going through a few bags!

You shouldn't use it without a bag, as the filter will clog very quickly.

A Kapex, even if you're cutting stuff up all day every day, would take quite a while to fill 55 litres!

Creating 55 litres of sawdust should be bringing you in more than enough money to make the cost of the bag negligible.

Yeah thanks Jonny. Come to think of it, I've only used 3 bags since I've had it. I just begrudge paying near on £50 for 5 bags...must be the half Scots in me!  [embarassed]

Forgot to mention that I've not long had the 2200 router, and cutting worktop joints generates a lot of dust as you probably know. I usually do that outside if its not raining. So if I have the space indoors in wet weather, I'd soon fill a bag.

Even doing worktops, 55 litres is a BIG space to fill! I reckon you could do 80-100 joints before you'd need to change it.

You can use any Festool vac without a bag. Filters can take it no problem, but you have to clean them more often. They are designed to work without a bag. They are designed to work with a bag even better.

But I don't see the problem of the cost for the bags, surely a job that fills a 55L bag brings in some dough? Calculate it in your prices.

if you want to economise on bags but still get the filtration they provide then add a cyclone into the loop. Many do. If you take a look at Peter Parfett's videos you will see his in the background often.

100 laminated worktop joints would half fill a mini skip!

I work from my van as a kitchen fitter Jerome. The idea of me getting festool gear was to cut down on the weight and space.
