help with bulkhead flashing

Hello.

I am pretty sure that the pictured basement bulkhead door is not flashed correctly, and if possible I would like some feedback on this.

When it was installed, the front of the bulkhead was not flashed at all.  I fixed this last weekend, before the recent storm.  However, the left side of the bulkhead remains a problem.  The right side of the bulkhead is not pictured but does not present a leakage problem because it does not touch an exterior wall of the house and was flashed where it sits on the foundation.

Regarding the left side of the bulkhead.  There is a piece of flashing (there is a small piece of blue tape on it) that goes under the diagonal piece of white trim and sits on top of the left bulkhead edge.  I am pretty sure that water is getting under this piece of flashing, therefore under the trim, and dripping down the sheathing.  I can see water in the basement right underneath the left side of the bulkhead.

I have to replace the rotting corner board that one sees in the picture (this piece of trim is pine and is getting destroyed by water---I noticed that the end grain was never even primed when it was installed).  When I remove this corner board I could also remove the diagonal piece of trim on the left side of the bulkhead.  However, even if this trim is out of the way, I will not be able to get any flashing under the left edge of the bulkhead.  So, I am not sure if it makes sense to remove this piece of trim.

If anyone has any advice here, I would appreciate it.  It is possible that the flashing on the left side of the bulkhead is correct, although I am suspicious as there is nothing to stop water from entering the house once it gets under the flashing.

Thanks, Mike

A few things----

The raked water table will need to come off. There should be a Z flashing on it with a leg going up behind the siding and a leg dropping over the top of it. Most often you have to install the flashing, then roll the water table in place. While the water table is off, form a U shaped channel that one leg will go behind it, the other will go up into the gap that should exist between the door and frame. This will form a trough/gutter that the water will flow threw. Use galvanized metal for the flashings, concrete reacts with aluminum. The other choice it you want to use aluminum, is flashing tape as a barrier. Shorten the corner post and seal the end.

I had to open the pictures in Preview to straighten them, I'm sure Peter will be along to fix them shortly.
