Hi Im in the process of making a Murphy bed unit from Baltic Birch ply. This will have a Rubio Monocoat pure finish on it when I get it built. Does anyone know where I can find Birch molding to add to the unit? Or is there a different species that will not stand out a ton when completed? I was thinking some kind of crown at the top of the unit and some flat stock around the perimeter and middle of the unit. Thanks in advance.

I doubt that you will find birch crown and trim.  Perhaps carefully selected poplar (avoid the greenish areas) or soft maple.  You might have to search well beyond the big box stores and find a Wurth's or similar location that sells to cabinet shops.

Look in your area for a shop that will run the moulding you want. Wont be cheap.

The flat stock will be easy to do, the crown will depend on the profile you want.

Also, look into running the crown on a table saw.

I too think that the color match may be difficult with BB plywood. If you can use regular birch ply you will have better luck with the color. Unless you can really hand pick only the very lightest / yellowest birch for the trim it is going to look much browner than the BB plywood. The two also look different grain wise.

OMG!  You brought back some fond memories for me!

One night back in my college days I was nursing a beer at a college bar in Cleveland.  One of the songs in rotation was "Maggie May," a favorite of mine.

While I was listening and enjoying my beer, I was suddenly surrounded by four gorgeous looking coeds.  One of them quips "would you like to be picked up by 4 girls?" and, of course, I immediately answered "sure!"  They all then proceeded to grab my bar stool and lift me up in the air!

Hahahaha!  Those were some crazy fun times back then!

Thanks again for resurrecting the memories!

Their 84 page catalog seems impressive.

I just used Google. Google did the heavy lifting. Good luck.

To save you a few minutes, you must have a commercial account with Paxton. To have the account you must have a shop space that is not in a residential area.
